What is Cystic Fibrosis?
Cystic Fibrosis is a disorder. This disorder was found in 1938 by an American Pathologist Dr. Dorothy Anderson. CF is a heredity disorder that effects your breathing habits. CF generates mucus that blocks you air ducts in your lungs which can be very deadly. This could result in respiratory infection. Which is very dangerous
Should you be worried about CF?
Yes! You should be worried about CF. If your new born baby has CF, your baby has a great chance of dieing as an infant. If you figure out you have this disorder you will probably live for the next 37.5 years. The good news is this number has gone up since the 1980's from 20 years to 37.5.
Help the scientist!
Some of the best scientist are working from around the world to help prevent CF. They are looking for cures to help people live longer with this disorder. If someone dies in your family with CF you could donate their body scientist so they can find a treatment faster. Even though scientist are getting closer to finding a treatment on CF your help could give them that extra inch they need.
Talk to people with CF!
Even just talking to people with CF could help people out. When you know you might die in accouple years you are down so bring those people back up and make them have fun. If someone in your family has CF than you could get a phyciotrist that would help them get their feeling out of their mind.
Donate to charities
There are many charities for you to donate too. One charity that I looked into is The Cystic Fiborosis Foundation this foundation is the biggest one for this disorder. If you donate money to this foundation your money will go to scientist to find a cure for this disorder. Or your money will go to the people so they can get theropist to help them. Either way your money is going to a safe place.
How to know if you have Cystic Fibrosis
Side Effects
There are side effects if you have CF. One side effect is you have salty tasting skin. Another one is frequent lung infections. You could also have poor growth in weight and height. If you cough a lot you might want to check it out. If you are wheezing after a short distance is another side effect. You might have troubles with bowel movments. If you have any of these you might want to get yourself checked.
Diagnostic Test you can take
If you think your child has CF or you there is a 4 step process. First if it is a baby you would have to go through a newborn screening. These last three are for adults too. They are a sweet chloride test, a genetic or carrier test, and a clinical evaluation. If you even think you might have CF than i would go get checked out just in case.
