NEWS and NOTES
Thank you for a great start to ISTEP Testing!! I appreciate the focus and effort being put forth by our students. I see it as I am moving around the building throughout the testing session. Grade 3-6 teachers- this is due to your preparation and focus!! K-2 teachers...thank you for holding it down on your hallways during testing. I know the change in schedule isn't easy...so thanks for everyone's flexibility! Just a reminder of the related arts schedule on testing days only:
- 11:30-12:30-Grades 3/4
- 12:30-1:30- Grades Pre K/K
- 1:30-2:30- Grades 5/6
- 2:40-3:40- Grades 1/2
ELA PLC's are going to be modified as Ms. Barnes will be pulled to complete IREAD 3 remediation with third grade. Please see the PLC schedule above for the modifications. i am also attaching the IREAD 3 Remediation Plan for you to review. It will take all of us to get our students to achieve! Thank you for your flexibility at this time.
Short observations will continue this week. I will be focusing on the posting and alignment of I CAN statements, the referencing of these statements throughout the lesson, and how you gradually release content to students. Instruction must be intentional and directly tied to the purpose of the lesson. It is not enough to keep students busy....how are engaging them in a rigorous and intentional manner?
If you have any students that need referring for RtI, please submit the referral to Kristina Gluth, our School Psychologist. If you have any questions, she is here Monday and Thursday, or available by email at gluthke@myips.org. If a student is not making progress based on data, they need to be referred for support! Also, you can click on this link for the RtI referral document and resources provided through Ms. Gluth.
Please make sure that you are at your duty spots on time each day by 8:45 am!!! It is critical to the start and end of our day that we are in place and ready to welcome students in our building. Individual conversations will be had if this is not occurring.
