Classroom News!
This week we focused on the Teddy Bear; how and when it originated. Mrs. Gershowitz let us borrow her wonderful book, "The Legend of the Teddy Bear" by Frank Murphy. We learned about Rose and Morris Mitchom who created and sewed the first teddy bears by hand. Inspired by their work, our children have started to sew and stuff their very own little teddy bears. This is a task that requires time and patience. We also read the story, "A Lost Button" from the book "Frog and Toad All Year" by Arnold Lobel. The children each got a bowl of buttons and a blue sheet of paper with a pre-cut hole. Each child used these two materials to come up with a picture that that connected the buttons with the negative space of the hole. These one-of-a-kind pictures will be displayed in the hall outside our classroom soon!
