Claires Court Bulletin

Nearly there! Only two and a half days of school to go for our boys. I had to congratulate all of them this morning in assembly for how well they are coping with the frantic arrangements of the end of term. I know the boys are tired, I know that rehearsals for Nativity plays and Carol Services can be draining, and I am also aware of how much sport is being crammed into this last full week of school - but they are responding superbly and are making their teachers very proud.

I hope that the note I sent out earlier in the week with the boys arrangements for the end of term on has helped clarify what we are all doing over the next few days. Please do contact us if you have any further questions regarding our last week of term.

I also spoke with all the boys this morning about their end of term report….when I mentioned the ‘report’ word there was a deathly hush across the mezzanine! We have altered the way that we are reporting to you at the end of the Autumn Term about your son’s progress and performance at school, and I hope you enjoy reading the slightly more forensic and concise dialogue that we have put together. If you would like more information on why the Junior Boys and Girls schools have opted for this format please read the words of James Wilding, our Academic Principal, in his end of term bulletin. From my perspective, there are some absolutely wonderful comments being sent home about your son’s achievements on Wednesday, and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to read them all.

We had over 50 pupils take part in the Claires Court Chess Tournament on Monday, one of our biggest ever entries. Well done to all of those boys from Year 2-6 who put themselves through a gruelling 4 hours of chess! They all really enjoyed it and results will be announced on Monday.

I will be sending out my last ‘Heads Words’ for the term on Wednesday. I hope to see you all at one of our performances next week.

Many thanks for your continued support

Justin Spanswick

A big thank you for the Shoebox parcels you gave so generously for The Link Foundation. We counted 76 parcels which will go to families in need via health visitors, domestic violence refuges, community nurses and local schools.

Our two Rabbit winners this week are Oscar Helm in 3L and Joshua Spanswick in 2G. Oscar is always a very kind and helpful young man, and this was evident earlier in the week when he was sharing with other boys in the school very well. Joshua is always very polite and kind, offering to help whenever he can, and he has been a very good friend this week to some of his classmates. Well done to both Oscar and Josh, we are very proud of them.

Y4 - Y6 - Monday 5 & Tuesday 6 January

Get ready for the school football season with a two day course focusing on developing individual ball skills, whilst giving players the opportunity to practise and develop their abilities in shooting, passing, dribbling and control using a wide range of fun games and drills and the opportunity to take part in small-sided games and tournaments. Please return booking forms before the end of term.

After a busy week at the girls school we all enjoyed a very successful Disco with a huge turnout across the schools. Thanks for coming and please do let us know your feedback via The raffle was won by Mrs Wakely of the Senior Boys School, with second prize going to Mr Jeffs in Yr3 of Junior Girls and third prize to Mrs Scott in the Nursery ... so someone won something across all the schools !

It is now the end of the first half term for the new PTA and we have been thrilled with the support we have had. Thank you. Please keep 13th June 2015 free, when we will be holding our annual Ball at the Junior Boys School and the date of our annual quiz night (now with a new quiz master and exciting new catering) will be announced when we get back in the New Year.

Have a wonderful restful holiday time. With Best Wishes. Gill Towell & CCGS PTA "
