Monday Memo

September 19th

From Your Assistant Principal

Teachers,

What a busy week we had. Thank you for supporting Boosterthon and for welcoming Grandparents into your classrooms after the breakfast on Friday. Please continue to nominate students for the Good News Call of they Day. The parents and students love it.

Progress Alerts should be sent home at this time. Please remember that a progress alert is required for any student being marked BL or receiving an N. Refer to the assessment plan that was created by 3rd-5th grade teachers to ensure that you have appropriate assessment information. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Inventory check out will be happening soon. I will place directions in your mailboxes soon and you can check out all the items in your classrooms to yourselves. Doing this is very important and helps us keep track of everything in a huge school with a lot of movement!

Make it a great week. Go Tigers!

From Your Counselor

I have started another round of guidance lessons focusing on the STEM Trait of the Month - Problem Solving. I would like to thank each of you for allowing me to come in during your instructional time and get to know your students better. Being in the classroom allows me to get to know their names and identify students that may be in need of more assistance.

Please be sure that you are documenting any student misbehavior in the Behavior Tracker and communicating with their parents. Based on the last time I pulled a report it looks like a lot of you have started to use this tool. This allows Mrs. Cervone and I to see which students we may need to speak to to further help them be successful!

Have a fantastic week!!

From Your Reading Coach

* I will be on campus Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.

* This Friday and next week I will be holding data chats for grades 1-5th. Please look at the schedule below to add to your own personal calendars. During the data chat we will do an initial sort using specific data. Teachers please look for am email on what the data will be. The initial sort will help us as we prepare to plan for intervention support and enrichment support.

9/23 Friday 8:50 Edward's Team/9:50 Burgos' Team/11:50 Slaughter's Team/1:50 Lipinczyk's Team

9/27 Tuesday 11:50 Piurowski's Team (all of LC 3rd grade)/ 2:20 Collinet's Team

* Guided reading needs to be happening in 1st through fifth grade classrooms. If you should need help on how to organize and plan for your groups please let me know. I am happy to help. Kindergarten teachers please make sure you are getting your daily five routines solid so you can begin guided reading on October 3rd.

* Foundational skill lessons needs to be taught in CORE. This is for grades K-5th grade. At the top of your PSTs are resources to use in your CORE. Those in Units of studies can use grade level foundational skill rubrics. These lessons are no more than 10 minutes in whole group. Practicing these skills can be done in guided reading, independent time, WRITING and bell work. This is especially important for our K-2 students. Intermediate students need word work and vocabulary instruction daily.
