Pastures
The Shooting Star Stables has 15 pastures, 5 for mares, 2 for mares with foals, 3 for geldings, 3 for stallions, and 2 for 1-2 year olds. Our stable hands take care of your horse for you. Our pastures have tall green grass in the spring, summer, and early fall. We hire someone to check the pastures for poisonous plants twice a year. The horses get let out 8-14 hours a day depending on if you are going to ride them or not.
Arenas
There are 2 indoor arenas and 1 outdoor arena that are all 20 by 60 meters. Some people are also allowed to ride in the pastures when there are no other horses in them. There are jumps that you can set up and some jumps that are already set up for you. There is nice tack that you can use.
The Beach
There is a beach about 2 miles away from the Stables. You can use our trailers to bring your horse to the beach where you can ride, do photo shoots, and teach them tricks. The water is clean with no litter or and the animals in it are turtles, fish, and starfish. The turtles and starfish don't go in the shallow places and the fish swim out of your way.
Tack
The Shooting Star Stables has English tack. The farm have most of the different types of bits and there are bit less bridles too. There are nice saddle pads, saddle blankets, saddles, halters, crib collars, lead ropes, blankets, sheets, breastplates, martingales, and daisy bands that are in good shape and you can use them for free. You can also buy your own tack and you will get your own hangers.
Competitions
We have competitions twice a year only for Shooting Star Stables riders. We also go to competitions using our trailers. You are allowed to bring your horse along to compete.
Food and Bedding
The stable hands feed the horses twice a day. The horses get as much hay and grain as you want them to. The bedding that we use is peat moss. Peat moss bedding is very absorbent and horses like it because it is very soft.
Places to Ride
There are 2 indoor arenas and 1 outdoor arena that are all 20 by 60 meter. One of the indoor arena and the outdoor arena have jumps already set up. The other indoor arena has jumps that you can set up yourself. We have 2 trails that you can use. One is on the beach and another one is in the woods, right next to our stables. If there are no arenas available then you can ride in a pasture that has no other horses in it.
Animals
We currently have 4 foals, 1 mule, 3 goats, 2 miniature horses, and 75 horses. You are allowed to feed any animals treats except the foals and horses that have signs that say not to feed them (because they choke, their fat, etc).
Vet, Farrier, and Dentist
The vet and dentist come twice a year. There is a farrier that comes every 6-8 weeks.
Steffen Peters
Steffen Peters visited the Shooting Star Stables and said that it is a lovely farm. Steffen Peters is on the 2016 Olympics dressage team. He has gotten a bronze medal in the 2008 olympics. He is going to ride Legolas 95 in the Olympics.
