The Tutor Times
November/December 2014
As the Year Comes to an End
It’s that time of year when people often look at their accomplishments over the past year. Here at Literacy Green Bay, we’re preparing to compile grant reports and looking at everything our tutors and students have accomplished since January. Please take a few minutes to make sure your calendars are all up to date and that you have shared all of your successes with us. Please check with Betsy or Shelley if you’re unsure whether or not you’re up to date on your hours.
It’s also that time of year when many people start to think about cuddling up with a good book. We’ve added a few new young adult books to our library so stop in and check them out!
Attention All:
Please note when the building will be closed during the upcoming holiday season and make other plans, if necessary, for a tutoring site.

Thank you for your understanding
and cooperation.
Winter Book Discussion
Back by popular demand, we’ll be holding another book discussion this winter. By request, we’ll be discussing A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle on Monday, February 2 at 10:00am and 6:00pm in the Learning Center This book is written at a 5th grade level, so any learner who is currently reading at a GE of 5.0 or higher is a good candidate for this discussion. Study guides are available now. Please contact Shelley for more information or to RSVP.

If interested, please see Shelley or Betsy for more information.
English Page
English Page.com is a website that offers several exercises on verb tenses, grammar, vocabulary, etc. Check it out at http://www.englishpage.com/index.html! This would be great practice for your learner to work on with you or on his/her own.
Immigration Guide: What Every Immigrant Needs to Know
During the fall conference in October that staff attends every year; Shelley attended a session on the Immigration Guide: What Every Immigrant Needs to Know. We were given a free guide for our tutor and students to use, which will be available in the Learning Center upstairs. The Immigration Guide walks immigrants through different aspects of living in the United States including schooling, banking, and transportation. The next time you’re in the area, take a look!
