Goodbye old
In with the new!
Gotta wear shades!
Can you believe it? We get to be at IMMS this school year!!
We hope you all had a fantastic summer break and Labor Day weekend.
We have spent much of the last two weeks getting the library ready for you and our students.
You will notice a big change in how the library is setup and how it looks. We are excited to share our space with everyone.
Please be patient as we are still setting up and unpacking many boxes.
We have a few new changes in the library to start the new school year:
- NEW: Pretty much everything about the physical space in the library is new. Checkout the flexible seating as well as the flexible arrangement. Please schedule a time or activity with Melanie so all kids in every subject aea get a chance to enjoy their “new” library.
- Returning: Flocabulary - hip hop videos, lesson plans, content specific - Sign up at the link to the left to create your account. Please use!! This is expensive!!
- New: iMovie Studio: We have a Green Screen Room with props ready to use with your students. This room can be signed out to use with students. We have enough licenses of the Veescope app for an entire grade to use. Schedule your classes to use with Melanie. Skills our students need. Great way to assess student skills!!
- Returning: Flipster - online magazines - use Flipster iPad app or online- access from our website. Still time to request a title. See my website for access. Use HS account too! No paper copies of new editions. We have added 4 additional titles this year.
- Returning: SORA: most everyone is loving SORA!! I will schedule a visit to your team meeting to help YOU setup your own SORA account.
- New: I have signed us up for NIE. We will have a total of 6 WSJs. One for each grade level, special education, library and office. Please let me know if you want to be the contact for your grade level. Access to WSJ (newspaper) free from iPad - 7 users at a time. Login with username=immslibrary and pw= library. Download app to your ipad.
- Returning: SIRS Researcher and CultureGrams - Please use these resources.
- Website - lots of information, quick links, and more. Check it out!!
- Destiny Discover - NEW LOOK! integrated with Google - all materials inc. ebooks and audiobooks - Please USE!! our audiobooks are now integrated in SORA.
- New: Professional Library: The green screen room will share space with the professional library. Come check it out! We are adding recommended texts quite often.

Our Mission
To ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information and to foster literacy!
Adding to your Curriculum
Library Opens Thursday
What's the big deal?
Q: Why do students need a pass to the library?
A: The library pass is used as a means of identifying who is in the library and how many students are in the library. With the change to only one entrance it will be easier to keep track of who is in the library space. The pass is extremely important in the event of an emergency to account for all students who are in the library. The pass is color coded by grade level so that we can visually identify student numbers quickly as we shuffle them to safety. Please keep this in mind when sending students to the library.

Reminders for 2019-20
- Bookroom - The book-room Is set up in the library workroom. All books are entered into Destiny and checked out directly to students. Books can be searched through Destiny when teachers are logged in and checked out through the library. See the request form on the library website under "IMMS Teachers".
- Library Printer - change for this year. The library printer will be used for library patrons and RA classes. Each grade level has a printer and this is where most students and staff should print.
- Please consider copyright or fair use rules when printing or copying, please see Melanie with your questions!!
- NEW: SET passes - for 7th and 8th grade SETS we are trying something new this year. Each SET teacher will receive a SET pass that they can use to send three students to the library during SET to read, study, or create. It is up to SET teachers if there is a time limit and if there is a rotation of students. This is a chance for students to enjoy our new LMC environment but is manageable for library staff. This will begin after orientation classes are finished or September 11.
LMC Guidelines
