From The Principal's Desk
Tēnā koutou katoa,
It seems to have come around quickly once again, but the final week of Term 1 is already upon us. I think we can look back on a very positive start to the school year. The children have engaged in some excellent personal reflection during our Concept around learning, developing a deeper understanding of their characteristics as learners that has helped set the tone for the year ahead.
Add to this the numerous trips, events and opportunities that the children have participated in this term, and I think we can certainly be satisfied that we have hit the ground running for 2016.
And on the subject of running, I would also like to pass on my congratulations to our 2016 Interschool Cross Country Team, who finished 3rd place in the Western Zone last week. It was a tough event, but they put in a spirited performance with great grit and determination. Well done to all of our runners, including; Mila G, Eva VK, Noa G, Chloe MB, Mazie T, Charlie J, Charlie N, Ryan J, Ryan C, Oskar F, Redd S, Joseph S, Iris P, Lola B, Abbey A, Isabella G, Riley L, Sarah A, Jacob B, Hugo S, Oliver W, Rhys A, Ryan C, Luke R, Lara C, Kate A, Bella WF, Lily T, Etoile S, Lexie N, Tom LB, Oliver L, Caleb W, Thomas E, Luke C & Connor S. I’d also like to thank our Sports Coordinator, Teresa Hannard, for once again helping ensure that the children were well prepared for another successful event.
Please also note that you should have now received a copy of the contact details that the office currently holds on file for you. Please check this and make sure that you have returned this updated, or with the words ‘no change’ as applicable. This is important for ensuring our electoral roll is up to date for the forthcoming Board Elections.
Other than that, it just remains for me to pass on my best wishes for the Term break, and I look forward to seeing you sometime in Term 2!

On the last day of term 1 (Friday 15 April), Titirangi Primary School is going to have a ‘Techni-colour Day’.
Come to school dressed up in your brightest craziest coloured clothes.
Please bring a gold coin donation for the ‘Neurology Society’ and you will be in the draw to win a complete set of Countdown Disney Movie Stars.

Last week, a copy of the contact details that we currently hold on file for you and your child was sent home with eldest/only children. Please return this form to us ASAP.

Walking School Bus Driver needed!!
Our library route of the Walking School bus is in need of a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon driver! If you are able to help by walking some of our younger pupils from the school to the library on either of these afternoons please contact Sandra Grammer at email@example.com!
It's a great way of helping out and having fun on the way!

Class Parents Required
We need Class Parents for the following rooms: 5, 8, 10, 11, 12, 15, 17, 18, 21, and 22.
A Class Parent is someone who liaises with the parents and their children, the school (class teacher / office) and the PTA. They ensure that effective relationships are maintained and communication is clear. A class parent would assist with finding parents for class trips; facilitating parents to fill jobs that the teacher may require ie sharpening pencils, returning readers etc; communicating support for PTA initiatives; creating social opportunities for the class; welcoming and assisting new families to the class.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS HAVE ARRIVED!
Entertainment books have been sent home with the eldest child. Please take the time to look through as there are many savings to be had. Simply return the book to the office if you do not wish to purchase. If you would like an electronic copy please click on the link below. Early bird orders receive bonus vouchers. The books are still at the same price of $65.00 each. All sales will donate $13 per book to our school. Don't forget that vouchers can be shared amongst family members and friends who might live in different parts of Auckland.
CLAY PEOPLE - HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
This is a one day programme covering the following techniques:
*Observation of people
*Pencil sketching of form
*Clay skills - forming, joining, decorating, use of tools.
By the end of the session, you will have completed a clay person. I will then fire the artworks once they are dry, followed by glazing and then a second firing in the kiln.
*9am – 3pm
*Morning Tea provided
