Program of Studies: LIVE!

After weeks of work, the 2018-2019 Program of Studies is going LIVE today.

Contained in this important school document are detailed descriptions of each course for next school year. The course selection process that gauges student interest in a course is the sole indicator if a course or program will run next year. The Program of Studies is a document of sincere intention.

It is a living document and will be updated in the next weeks. Specific class assemblies are scheduled in the next month's time with strict timelines for student wishes to be curated. This is an opportunity for students to VOICE their CHOICE preferences for 2018-2019.

Please note new scope and sequence in math and history. There are a few additional half -year courses being offered as well as more phys ed options in grades 11 and 12.

We continue to suggest career pathways via Case courses. This list is updated annually based on the voice of students during advisories.

The published Google Doc can be accessed by clicking here or using the QR Code above.

Course registration timelines

Case High administration and guidance will meet with each individual grade to model how to effectively use the Program of Studies and select classes for next year.

Many thanks ==> Program of Studies Night

Thanks to the many Case families who joined me in the Learning Commons last Thursday night for our annual Program of Studies Night. Department heads and system-wide directors were on hand to present curriculum highlights from their departments as well as answer student and family questions in small groups.

Special thanks to Superintendent John Robidoux for attending this event. Grateful for your support!

#shadowastudent day at Case

For the third consecutive year, I will shadow one student for an entire school day in the next weeks. This national challenge enables me to see the school from an entirely new vantage point. Teachers should not be surprised to see me in their class for an entire period, whether it's performance-based, a lab, or phys ed class, in jeans and a Case High sweatshirt. I will take lots of pictures and blog about my experience via social media.

To be continued...real soon!

The New EVERYMAN

More than 100 Case students are readying for the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild's annual drama festival. A preliminary round of competition will be held at Joseph Case High School on Saturday, March 3. The 2018 Massachusetts state champs will be presenting a new adaptation of a classic morality play adapted by local author Steve Manchester, The New Everyman, directed by Neil Jeronimo. Stay tuned for more details!

REMINDER: Last Day of School update

Given the snow days of January, the last day of school as of February 12 will be Friday, June 15. Any subsequent "no school" day this year will move the close of the year to the week of June 18. Please be careful in making early summer vacation plans.
