Weekly GUFS Newsletter
May 27, 2021
A Message From the Principal, Mrs. Emig
Dear GUFS Families,
We are entering a long four-day weekend where we hope you will be able to enjoy barbeque, time with family and friends and some well deserved relaxation!
The weather will continue to grow increasingly warm and humid. Please remind your child to bring a water bottle, dress comfortably and apply sunscreen prior to school. Many of our days are spent outdoors under our pavilion and tents but sun exposure is always a concern.
We are excited to conclude this incredibly challenging year with some fun and exciting events when we return in June. We look forward to more field trips, award ceremonies, school dances, and graduations. For a complete lineup of our upcoming activities and events, please check out the last section of this newsletter! We are thankful that we will be ending the year enjoying the many Garrison traditions that were missed last year.
With gratitude,
Allison Emig
Principal

During our study of Earth Day, we learned about Plant for the Planet which was started in 2007 by a young German boy named Felix Finkbeiner. The students were excited about it and Meaghan did all of the research, purchasing and planning for our mini-tree planting.
Time Capsule Ceremony June 25th
Ned Rausch, our PTA president, has donated a real 4" x 13" time capsule to the school! Coulter Young, our GUFS art teacher is currently coordinating with every grade to answer a few questions and to submit drawings about what it was like to be in school during COVID-19. These contents will then go into the capsule to be ceremoniously buried on June 25th at 9:00 AM and will be reclaimed in a decade.
