CROC TALK BRIEF
Nancy Ryles Elementary Newsletter ~ April 2, 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by MONICA ARBOW
I can’t tell you how excited we are to open our school doors next week and welcome students back to In-Person Hybrid instruction (Kindergarten through 2nd grade on Monday, April 5, and 3rd through 5th grade on Thursday, April 8). It’s been a long time coming and we are thrilled to be able to offer the opportunity to have students back in our classrooms again.
You will find important parent reminders below regarding dates, times, arrival, dismissal, and other important logistics. In addition to In-Person Hybrid students being required to wear masks, we ask that parents wear masks any time that they are on school property. This is especially important at arrival and dismissal times when we have an increased number of students, staff, and parents congregating.
Your child’s teacher has been preparing the class for the upcoming transition. This week, we finished a Nancy Ryles Return to School Video for In-Person Hybrid students, which includes Rylie the Crocodile showing us how things will look. We also have a more specific video for our hybrid bathroom procedure that we will show students on the first day of school. Students will need to bring their electronic device, a water bottle, and a mask with them to school. We will provide the rest of the supplies. Although students are not required to, they may bring their individual hand sanitizer with them, but we ask that it is fragrance free. We have numerous hand sanitizing stations at school, as well as extra masks and water for student use.
For students completing the year in Comprehensive Distance Learning, their schedule will change next week, too! Teachers are excited to remain online with CDL students in the afternoons. Please make sure to review the new CDL schedule so that students are ready for their transition as well.
A review of all of the In-Person Hybrid and Comprehensive Distance Learning information can be found below. As always, please give us a call, or reach out to your teacher, if you have any questions.
April 5 - Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades: In-Person Hybrid Instruction begins for those who selected it; continued CDL for those who decided to stay online.

4th & 5th GRADE STUDENT SURVEY
Each year the District surveys students, staff, and parents to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessment of progress on the District's Strategic Plan.
The student survey takes about 20 minutes during the regular school day. The data gathered from the survey is anonymous; your child will not put his/her name or other identifying information on the survey. Like other surveys, results will be presented only about groups. No individual data will be reported.
The surveys will be given between March 30 - June 4.
Your child may skip questions or stop filling out the survey at any time. Refusing to participate or withdrawing from the survey does not affect your child's grades or class standing in any way. If you or your child does not want to participate, your child can read or do some other activity while his or her classmates complete the survey.
After reviewing the survey, if you do not want your child to participate, please notify the Nancy Ryles office at 503-356-2400.
