Grade K Family Conferences - Tuesday, September 6th and Wednesday, September 7th
Grade K Conferences
Welcome to Homecroft Elementary and to the beginning of Kindergarten! We are excited to meet the class of 2035! We invite you to partner with us as we begin your child’s journey in education. As parents, you are your child’s first teacher and play an important role in the academic/emotional development of your child. We are really excited about the year ahead and getting to know “our” kids.
Homecroft has set aside two special days, September 6th and 7th for kindergarten family/teacher conferences. Families are invited to come in, meet the teacher, and take a little time to further understand kindergarten. Conferences will be held from 8:00 AM through 3:30 PM.
Please use this link to sign up for conferences: This letter will be sent to you in both digital and hard copy. It is also available on our school website.
Here is the link to sign up: Homecroft Grade K Conferences
Our kindergarten teachers are Ms. Linda Hagstrom, Ms. Sarah Hodgson, and Mrs. Julia Sampson. Teacher assignments are posted within parent portal in our Infinite Campus system. If you do not have a parent portal account, please contact our office for guidance in getting one set up. School office newsletters and a majority of school communication is emailed to you.
Your child is going to have a wonderful experience at our school. I look forward to meeting you soon.
Message from Transportation - Where is the bus??
Transportation requests received by the end of Tuesday August 30, 2022 will be processed and ready for
bus transportation Tuesday, Sept 6, 2022.
Requests received Wednesday August 31, Thursday Sept 1 and Friday Sept 2 will be ready for bus
transportation by Thursday Sept 8, 2022.
We are striving to accommodate all requests but our drivers will need to learn their new routes in order
to be ready for the start of school, Tuesday Sept 6.
Thank you for your patience and we look forward to a great new school year!
Parent Pick Up and Parent Drop Off
Parents are asked to use the lower/south parking lot for AM drop off until all our buses have departed from the main entry (directly in front of the main doors). We will have staff waiting for students in the lower parking lot to welcome students. Our doors open at 7:30 AM. Students should not be left by parents to wait unattended. Please be mindful of traffic on Howard Gnesen Road. We typically have a back-up of cars and pulling to the side is recommended. Also, parents are asked to not block residential driveways while waiting to turn into our parking lots.
Students being picked up in the PM will be given a number card that parents need to display in their car window. If you already have one, please use this again. If you do not have one, staff will be giving those to parents the first days of school. Parents are reminded that students will be coming out to meet parent vehicles starting at 2:15 PM. Please be patient with us as the process goes smoothly, but a new start always causes delays.
Parents are asked to stay in your vehicle when picking up/dropping off students. If a student needs help, that's just fine, but our parking lots are very busy and we need to keep everyone safe and the flow of traffic moving. If you need to come into the office in the AM/PM, please park instead of using the pick up/drop off lanes.
During the first week or two of school, we don't mind if parents come in and walk students to class, especially in Grade K. However, considering safety, hallway traffic, and fostering student independence, please let students get to class on their own once they know the routine. We always have staff on hand to walk with students if they need some reassurnace.
2022-23 Blended Learning Access Form (IMPORTANT)
Important - all of last year's student passwords were changed on June 13th, 2022. If you have not filled out the 22/23 Blended Learning yet, please do so asap! You can find the online version of this form on the Homecroft Elementary School website, as well. Instructions on accessing their network info is also there.
You will need your child's student ID #. UPDATE...after 3:30pm today (Friday 8/26) You can find this on the Parent Portal of Infinite Campus. You do NOT need to enter their email address on the form (it is optional).
Kindergarten and new Families...you need to do this as well! If you do not have Parent Portal access yet because I have not finished your child's enrollment, email me for it. Also, Parent Portal access is experiencing a delay as the rush of the school year is upon us.
A new blended learning agreement is required each year to ensure access for your child to all of the licensed materials and a Chromebook or tablet.
Thank You
Thank you to Jess Radtke and her crew for overhauling our teachers' lounge this summer. Your organizational skill is amazing and the extreme lounge makeover is so appreciated.
Thank you to our PTO and Melissa Janzen for the continuous work to improve the field at Homecroft. We are hoping the summer project makes that a usable space for our students!
Thank you to our PTA for helping make our main entry display during Open House amazing!
Thank you to our building engineers for getting our school ready for opening day!
Thank you to all our families and students for partnering with us and choosing Homecroft.
Start and End of School Times
Our doors open at 7:30 AM, parents should not leave students unattended prior to that time. The first bell rings at 7:45 AM and class starts at 7:50 AM. We begin dismissal at 2:10 and formal dismissal is 2:15 PM. Please note that our buses may be delayed a few minutes as we establish routines/ensure all students know where they are going at the end of the day.
If you arrive with your son/daughter after 7:50 AM they are considered tardy. Parents, please walk them in and check in at the office.
If you are picking up your son/daughter early, please notify the classroom teacher with a note. Email is an option, but our teachers do not always see the email given their schedule. When checking a student out early, parents need to come in and check out students through the office. We will not release students to waiting vehicles.
We realize things come up, please try to let us know of last minute changes prior to 1:30 PM.
