The Sudie News
August 19 - 23, 2019
Principal's Prose
My hope is that each of you is in the midst of enjoying the final moments leading up to the commencement of a FANTASTIC year at our dear Sudie TAG, that we love so true! If Friday night's sneak peak serves as any indication of what's to come, we have a lot to be grateful for. Our students are super excited, their parents are ready (in more ways that one, lol!) and all that remains is the opening bell for the 2019-2020 school year. Like I said in the Groupme, it's about to be ON and popping! No worries though, as Monday morning WILL find us ready!
As we gear up for the multitude of expectations and challenges ahead this year, I would love to direct us all back to the work and shared experiences this week. From the declaration of our foci this year (students voice/engagement, targeted student growth and SEL) to the creation of our new Sudie Essentials, I believe we all feel more connected to our mission, purpose and bound to each other as we start this journey. Even the news of our state rating (89) serves as positive motivation, as we WILL make it "A Point" to be great in everything we do this year! We WILL make it a point to be there for all of our students. We WILL make it a point to be accountable to ourselves and to each other for the role we play in the collective success of our school. We WILL make it a point to create learning environments which produce a cultivating culture students benefit from everyday. We WILL make it a point to graduate (the intentional theme in the background of this Smore) our planning, operational and instructional , beyond the commonly practiced first draft status, to the richly collaborative works worthy of our Sudie TAG standard. Lastly, we WILL make it a point to take care of ourselves and each other this school year, as we are all we have and our greatest natural resource is US!
In closing, I would once again challenge you all to think about the magnanimity of the task we have all been called and chosen to do, and the weight of the work we get to do. When we image and inventory the worst problems plaguing this world we will bequeath to the students we lead, THE ANSWER TO MOST PROBLEMS REMAINS A BETTER EDUCATION, in one way the other. Through this work, we get to make the difference NOW. No matter it if the contribution you have been marked to make is as a support staff member, food and nutrition staff member, teacher, custodial team member, student services provider or an administrator, your face, grace, place and space MATTERS EQUALLY to our overall success!
I am blessed to be the leader of this team, as you all shape me daily. I look forward to being with you Monday!
Sincerely,
MJ
