WBMS Friday Notes
Oct 2-6
Reflections from Ms. Perkins
WBMS parents and guardians –
It was a short but meaningful week for our students. Our chorus members fed our ears and hearts with beautiful music on Tuesday night, and our community embraced walk and roll to school on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday our staff delved into ways to improve teaching and learning in our classrooms. You will witness those events and more in this week’s recap. Enjoy the long weekend with your family! I hope there is time for both relaxation and exploration.
In collaboration,
Rebecca Williams Perkins
Principal, Webb Bridge Middle School

Bookfair Recap
Thanks to everyone who participated in our Scholastic book fair last week! We sold over $8300 worth of books and merchandise, added new books to our collection, and made $1650 in profit to buy new furniture and supplies for the media center. Students, your donations in the dum-dum contest meant that Mrs. Schuette, our school social worker, was able to buy $450 worth of materials from the fair for students who will benefit from new books! Teachers very much appreciated the donations to their classroom libraries; since they can’t send separate notes, the seventh grade social studies teachers would like to thank the anonymous donor of I Am Malala to each of their classrooms.

Helping Florida
Alpharetta High School and Webb Bridge Middle School are teaming up again to lead what we hope will become another community-wide effort! The Hurricane Harvey fundraiser was a huge success at both AHS and WBMS and we are confident that was only just the beginning! From now through Friday, October 20th both schools will be accepting donations of baby & adult diapers, NEW t-shirts and socks, & toiletries. At that point, all gathered donations will be shipped to Our Father’s Housewares, a charity located in Atlantic Beach, FL. Donations can be dropped off at the front office. Monetary donations will also be accepted online at www.tinyurl.com/ahshelpsFlorida2017. The money collected will be used to pay for shipping the donated items to Florida. Any remaining money will then be donated to hurricane relief efforts. We sincerely thank you for your continued generosity and altruism.

Please Support PTA
Dear Jaguar Families,
We can’t believe October is upon us and that Fall is already here! We would like to give you an update on how our PTA fundraising is progressing as of now. We would like to say a big thank you to the 308 families that have donated to our Fall Fundraiser. Your tax-deductible contribution is the ONLY time WBMS PTA will ask for money the entire school year, and it supports many Student Achievement and Enrichment programs.
Our goal this year was to raise $30,000 and we have only reached $22,590 of our goal! We need your financial support to help us reach our goal so that we can continue to provide academic and enrichment programs for our school. Otherwise, these important programs will be eliminated if we do not raise the money to fund them.
How does the PTA support our school?
- Academic Funding (Mini grants to teachers to enrich curriculum, Teacher Training/Development, Geobots, Desktop Stores) $12,250
- Student Enrichment (Agendas for every student, schoolwide activities for our students such as Red Ribbon Week, Talent Show, Reflections, Exceptional Children, International Night) $7,550
- Staff Engagement (Staff Luncheons, Teacher Appreciation Week, Staff treats throughout the year) $6,250
- Campus Projects (Campus beautification, Lunch & Learns) $1,625
- PTA Operational (Operating expenses, Bank expenses, Communication and website expenses) $2,415
TOTAL $30,090
We do not want to cut any initiatives from our budget this year, but we cannot do it without your support. When you support the WBMS PTA, you support YOUR child and YOUR school. Help us continue to give our students at Webb Bridge Middle School an academic edge. No amount is tosmall to donate and will enrich your child’s education at Webb Bridge. Thank you for your support. Please go to www.wbmspta.org to DONATE TODAY!
Sincerely,
Cindy Garcia and Kristen Vance (WBMS PTA Presidents)

Meetings and Public Comment
Webb Bridge’s School Governance Council meets in the morning one Friday each month in room 116; our next meeting is October 20th @ 7:30 in the PLR room. We hold a Public Comment period starting at 8:10 AM. Please feel free to attend and help us start our planning! If you cannot come to issue public comments, please fill out the form below.
What is SGC?
The Webb Bridge School Governance Council is already hard at work this year. When Fulton County became a Charter System, School Governance Councils were created to reflect the stakeholders for each school – faculty, parents, and community members. The School Governance Council concentrates on the culture, identity, and mission of Webb Bridge and are tasked with creating the Strategic Plan for our school. As the district Strategic Plan was updated this summer, this fall the School Governance Council will be working on creating our new, updated Strategic Plan for Webb Bridge.
Strategic Plan
Our updated plan will be built “bucket by bucket” to align with the districts new Strategic Plan. We are incorporating results of our Needs Assessment Data and using your feedback to update our Strategic Plan.
The Fulton County Strategic Plan: http://www.fultonschools.org/en/Pages/StrategicPlan2022.aspx
The first “bucket” we will work on for our Strategic Plan will be Student Achievement – how we can better prepare students academically to have the foundations and skills needed to navigate life beyond graduation.
