Japan, the United States, and the Phillippines were at war. The United States and Phillippines were fighting Japan because Japan had occupied the Phillippines. Japan had occupied the Phillippines from December 7, 1941- May 5, 1942.

How long were the Phillippines occupied for?

Japan occupied the Phillippines for three years. The Phillippines were occupied by Japan shortly after Japan declared war on the United States.

The plan

General Douglad MacArthur of the United States had an attack plan, but just before going through witht he plan, he changed it. He was going to move the naval forces to the Phillippines to join the British allies to defeat the Japanese Navy.
