"The holiday season is the perfect time to reflect on our blessings and seek out ways to helpmake life better for those around us".--Terri Marshall, Travel Journalist
Our Path Note Topic
It is hard to believe the holiday break is upon us. Your hard work with our students is appreciated. Now it is time for you to take a break, catch your breath, and relax.
Enjoy the time the way you want to enjoy it. Whether spending time with family, friends, children, pets, or just getting away on your own, now is the time to regain your energy through the means you know is best for you.
Thank you for all you do for our WASD kids. Your work and commitment to them is what we do best. We are a service industry. We serve others. This time of the year is considered a great time to serve others. However, we do it the whole school year.
I read a blog that gave advice for relaxing and recharging during the holidays.
1. Exercise
2. Put the Technology down, or use it at a minimum (probably the best advice)
3. Control the comfort food. Don't over indulge.
4. Plan ahead for things you know you must do, so you don't have to labor over thinking about those things.
5. Breathe--take big long and deep breaths.
How ever you enjoy spending your time away from your work at school, we wish you the most enjoyable holiday vacation possible.
See you next year on January 2, 2023!

Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Wyatt Dietrich. Wyatt is the Emotional Support teacher at Fairview Elementary. He is kind, patient, caring and selfless. He loves his job and especially the learners in his class. Wyatt is always seeking ways to help support his learners emotionally and showing them the basics of life. He goes above and beyond to show others support and to make them feel valued; staff and learners included. Wyatt creates an inviting environment, is always smiling and positive. The staff and learners of Fairview greatly appreciate all that he has done in the short amount of time that he has been here.
Join us in congratulating Wyatt Dietrich as this week's Piece of the Puzzle!
New Policies
Suggested revisions and new policies come from the PA School Board Association, board members, staff, administration, and others. The proposed policy goes to the Policy Committee for review. The Policy Committee will either approve the proposed policy to go to full board for review and adoption, or will deny or wait for a different time to revisit it.
Even though it will not be weekly, stay tuned for any new and/or recently adopted policies in this section.

Food Policy Update: White House National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition and Health
Of particular note: Modernize federal programs so enrolled individuals can more easily utilize benefits. Many federal programs were established decades ago. To bring federal nutrition assistance programs into the 21st century:
- USDA, through support from ARP funds, will expand online shopping in WIC.
- Online shopping is currently only being piloted in a small number of WIC state agencies.
- USDA will also propose to update regulations to make the SNAP online shopping program permanent and continue to add more online retailers and states to the existing program.
- Online shopping can expand access to healthy food and break down barriers for marginalized communities and older adults who may face discrimination or stigma, increased health risks, or have limited mobility or transportation.
- Additionally, SNAP participants are not currently able to use their benefits to purchase certain prepared foods, which limits choices for families shopping at SNAP-authorized retailers.
- And, as WIC comes up for renewal by Congress, the Administration supports addressing WIC eligibility limitations to avoid nutrition gaps during key stages of life.
