PBIS
What does PBIS stand for? Positive Behavior Interventions and Support. PBIS is a proactive positive systems approach for creating and maintaining safe and effective learning environments in schools. Each morning our students start the day with our PAWS chant, and the chant is tied in with our matrices. This month, we will feature our PAWS matrix for the Hallway/Transitions.
PAWS Chant
We are POSITIVE!
We are ACCOUNTABLE!
We are WILLING to do
whatever it takes!
We are SUCCESSFUL!
WE ARE TEAM JOWELL!
Veterans Day
If you do not have a picture of the veteran, on a piece of paper please write 1) your child's name; 2) the name of the veteran and; 3) your child's teacher's name. We will fill out a "Veteran Star" to hang in their honor. Thanks for helping us celebrate Veterans Day here at Jowell.
Note from the Nurse
It’s lice season. Head lice are most commonly spread by direct head-to head contact. Prevention of spreading is primarily focused on avoiding head to head contact (common during play at home, child care, school, sport activities, playgrounds, slumber parties and camps, and by prompt treatment of infected persons. Typical symptoms include: persistent itching of the scalp, sores on the head caused by itching, nits (eggs) near the roots of the hair concentrated behind the ears and nape of neck, and live lice noted on the scalp. Please continue to educate your child on avoidance of head to head contact and to check his/her scalp routinely if you suspect lice. We recommend you consult a licensed medical provider for treatment if you suspect someone in your household has lice. Should you decide to use an over-the-counter treatment, the CDC recommends you select an FDA approved product since most home remedies have not been proven safe or effective.
