They didn't use Religion as a part of the piece. I don't think there were any new techniques.
Why do you find this piece so interesting
I find this piece interesting because a guy holding a chopped off head like its nothing is pretty interesting like why is his face so calm about it.

They use humanism because David is a human and he is showing humans are good since he killed the bad guy and he used reason instead of using religion
