History

In 10,000 B.C Ancient Indians reached Arkansas. In 1807 permanent settlers get to hot springs in Arkansas. In 1836 Arkansas becomes the 25th state on June 5th. In 1861 Arkansas leaves the union. In 1868 Arkansas decides to join the U.S.A. again. Next in 1906 ,diamonds are found and in 1921 oil is found. Next Bil Clinton is born. In 1978 Bill Clinton is elected governor of Arkansas. Then in 1992 Bill Clinton is elected president. Many Arkansas people are proud of Bill Clinton's success!

Landforms/Geography

Many people come to Arkansas for its outdoor fun. Arkansas has some beautiful mountains. They are called the Ozark mountains. They are in Northwest Arkansas. The highest point of the Ozark mountains is in Arkansas. In the summer the temperature can get up to 92 degrees. In winter it goes down to 29 degrees. Northwest Arkansas has mountains and hills. In Southeast Arkansas there are low plains. Eastern Arkansas is good for farming and southwest Arkansas has natural oils and gasses under its surface. Eastern Arkansas is called the Delta. The Delta is very swampy. There is hot springs national park in Arkansas. Arkansas is in the south central United States, it has spring waters, rugged mountains and forests. It also has fertile plains and grows lots of cotton. Arkansas River goes through three states Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma before it hits Arkansas. Their are many animals in Arkansas a few examples are, deer, black bear, bobcats and red foxes. Their mining products in Arkansas are natural gas,oil,coal,clay,sand,gravel and crushed stone.

Recreation and Entertainment

In Arkansas diamond mining is a big thing. People come from all over the U.S.A. to explore diamond national park. It is a free park where people can search for diamonds and have fun. Arkansas has the only active diamond mind in the U.S.A. It is hard work 75,000 diamonds has been found under ground. People take cave tours to explore the underground. They have many museums in Arkansas. Museums here show much history about Arkansas. There is a big zoo in Little Rock. They breed lots of chickens in Arkansas. They have two big contest in Arkansas. The first one is watermelon eating and spitting contests. The second one is mosquito baking and eating contests.
