Liberty Link
March 17, 2023
This week we had some discussions about safety. We began our week with a fire drill and then later had our annual Body Safety presentations put on by Dunebrook. We have conversations regularly with our students about ensuring that our bodies are kept safe regardless of where we are- home, our classroom, outside, or at another person's house. I encourage you to talk with your children today about your family's thoughts and plans on the best ways to keep their bodies safe. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Mrs. Heidi Hennigar

Variety Show
Variety Show Participants
We really enjoyed seeing the talented performers at our Variety Show last Friday! Thanks to all who came out and showcased their talents, as well as our fabulous student emcees. I've also included the staff skit, which is a traditional opener each year at our Variety Show. HUGE thanks to the organizer, Mrs. Nicole Forsythe, for being so flexible and dedicated to making our show a success.

Please note the information on the above flyer: Students must attend the Boys & Girls Club Monday through Friday. If they need picked up that day, they will still need to ride the bus to the Boys & Girls club and then be picked up from that location. Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Mercier
Mrs. Michelle Mercier has worked here at Liberty for 10 years! She spent the first 8 years as a recess aide, but now works in our cafeteria with Child Nutrition. Her favorite part of working at Liberty is watching the kids grow. In her spare time, Mrs. Mercier likes to eat seafood and Italian food, go camping, hiking, and kayaking, and she loves spending time with her family. Fun fact: All of her kids attended Liberty! They are now 23, 19, and 17. When her son graduates, she plans to travel all over the place in their camper! We are lucky to have a friendly face like hers in our lunch line each day!

Information from previous newsletters
In case of inclement weather...
We have the following schedule also available in an attachment below. This is in case we have an e-learning day due to an unexpected event or inclement weather.
Unexpected/ Unplanned E-Learning Days
Pre-planned E-Learning Days
We currently have one more day on our school calendar in which students are scheduled to have an e-learning day: May 3. Teachers will have blocks of time available for 'office hours', where they will be available to students for questions, but the majority of this day the students will be completing Canvas activities on their own. Teachers generally have professional development scheduled on these days, so they are not available all day long. This method of instruction is referred to as asynchronous. I have linked the guidelines and differences between the two of these days below.
DuneNews
The goal of the Duneland School Corporation district school newsletters is to inform students, parents and the school community about school-related information.
This year, the Duneland Schools will share information that pertains to opportunities our students may be interested in outside of school on a special page on our website. These available opportunities are offered by not-for-profit partnerships and organizations within our school district boundaries and local communities. Follow this link to Community Opportunities.
