Growing Successful Learners - Whakatipu Mātauranga
Matt's Message
Kia Ora Koutou e te Whānau
The slight easing of COVID restrictions announced last week gave us all a sense of hope that the future could start to look a little brighter with more opportunities on the horizon for us all. I know for us here at school there has been a want to get back to some of those things that bring the enjoyment of being part of a school.
Over the last two years we have missed so many things within schools. Fortunately, we have not been alone in this as all schools across the motu have been in the same situation. As we look to slowly exit from restrictions, mandates and lockdowns and step cautiously into new ways of working, we are excited to start hosting events and activities for our tamariki where you as parents will be able to join us.
For the last couple of weeks of this term we will tip toe through a few internal changes for our team onsite. While you as parents have not been able to easily access the school sites as freely as we once knew, our ways of working inside the school gates have been different too. As we unwind some of our own restrictions we will do this while being mindful that the virus is still in circulation.
Some changes you can expect to see from term 2 as parents.
From the beginning of next term we will hope to implement the following changes, subject to the government not changing their current stance on Red level.
- Parents will be able to come onto the school site to drop off and collect their children.
- We will be hosting events such as the cross country (outdoors) where parents will be able to be invited.
- Our end of day bells will move back to a more condensed set of bells vs what we have been doing.
- The school will adopt all of the public health measures inline with the Governments red setting, meaning no need for scanning in, no masks in out door areas etc.
As a school we will up date you all with more specific details towards the end of the school holidays.
In the mean time, look forward to hearing from your children about assemblies and starting to sing again at school.
Fire Drill
We conducted a fire drill yesterday (Wednesday) around lunchtime. It was a very successful drill with all staff and children safely making their way over to Simpson Reserve in around 6min.
As always, to those families who are currently isolating and working through COVID, or any other illness or challenge our thoughts are with you all.
We are certainly looking forward to engaging with you all in the very near future.
Ngā mihi
Matt
Last Day of Term 1
Our last day for this term is Wednesday 13th April 2022.
There is no school on Thursday 14th April. This is a Pāpāmoa - Te Wharepuni a Pāpāmoa (Pāpāmoa Community of Learning) teacher only day.
Wednesday 13th April has been our advertised last day of term since the beginning of term one this year.
We appreciate the challenges that this can cause for parents, however, these teacher only days are part of the teachers collective employment agreements ratified by the Ministry of Education.
Sports Update
Kia Ora Whānau
This is Paige Newman. Paige is our awesome new sports coordinator who not only organises all of our sports teams and inter school sporting opportunities for us, but she also sets up games for us each morning tea and lunchtime for us.
Each day in the notices, Paige lets us know the sport that she is going to be taking and which year groups the games are for.
We are really lucky to have Paige working with us in our school.
Pāpāmoa Primary School - Policies and Procedures
Our school has been working with SchoolDocs to create a website for our policies and procedures. We are excited to announce that the site is now live and available to our school community.
The school works on a subscription basis with SchoolDocs to maintain, update, and review our policies. SchoolDocs provides us with a comprehensive core set of policies, which have been well researched and follow the Ministry of Education National Administration Guidelines. The policies and procedures are tailored to our school, and the school supplies specific information such as our charter, and procedures for behaviour management, reporting to parents, etc.
SchoolDocs updates, modifies, or creates policies in response to changes in legislation or Ministry guidelines, significant events, reviews/requests from schools, and regular reviewing from the SchoolDocs team. Our board of trustees has the opportunity to view changes/additions and comment on them before they are implemented. We will advise you when policies are up for review and how you can take part in the review.
We invite you to visit the site at https://papamoa.schooldocs.co.nz
(note that there's no "www.").
Our username is "papamoa" and password "3118".
