Genius Hour

Genius Hour is well under way. We are working on it entirely in class, but I know that many students choose to work on it at home as well since they have an innate interest in their topic. The students have loved having choice in their projects and being able to personalize their learning. Some students are finding it easier to work on a computer when creating websites or other projects so they may ask to work on it at home as well. I'm constantly amazed at their ability to be so intuitive with technology and figure out solutions to their problems with technology! I sure am glad to have 28 "tech experts" in my class to help with tech issues. The students will be presenting their projects after Thanksgiving in class. They will need to practice at home so that they will be prepared to share. That should be the extent of their work at home. Thank you for your support with this project.

Young 12-year old student has Intel invest in his invention

Shubham Banerjee, a 12 year old middle school student from Santa Clara came up with the idea of integrating his love of Lego and willingness to find an alternative way to help the visually impaired, resulted in the invention of an open source cost reduced DIY braille printer. He called it "Braigo v1.0" as a proof of concept to show everyone that we can do better to help the people in need.

Currently he is working on a host of different products with innovative ideas to bring to market alternative solutions to costly products currently available.

To facilitate research and development of these solutions Braigo Labs Inc. is formed to develop "Humanely Optimized" technologies to benefit mankind all over the world.

"Technology should help us to make our life easier and not become a burden due to high cost" - Shubham
