Thank You!
4th - 6th grade Egg Drop Contest
On Monday, September 20th the Oxford Fire Department came to OES to support the Grade 4 to 6 team with their culminating Egg Drop challenge. This was a celebration of the work these teams have been doing in the math classroom to learn academic and social-emotional routines and procedures that will set them up for success as they transition into the school year.
Students showcased what they have learned about:
How mistakes make your brain grow and, in turn, help you to learn
the importance of communication and compromise
how to revise their work and assess their strategies
how to get unstuck and ask questions
sharing their thinking and communicating in the math classroom
making sense of problems and creating a plan to solve them
how to use feedback and make revisions
We are proud of all of their hard work and cannot wait to see how they implement their learning throughout the year.
The winners of the Egg Drop competition are:
Grade 4 - Bennett, McKenzie, and Denari (Mrs. Tucker's class)
Grade 5 - Jackson, Kaitlyn, and Aliyah (Ms. Guerrette's class)
Grade 6 - a three-way tie
