Message from Dr. Frischkorn
Good Evening Mayfield!
At Mayfield Intermediate School and throughout the City of Manassas, we celebrate our community and all our diversity. February is when we come together as a community and celebrate the contributions of individuals who have helped our city, country, and world a better place. I would like to recognize that February is Black History Month, and here at Mayfield, students will be learning about the extraordinary accomplishments and contributions of people throughout the month. Students will be learning through readings and class discussion as we all continue to celebrate Black History in February and throughout the school year.
Please take some time to discuss with your child what they have learned about during Black History Month.
Always Learning

Upcoming Assessment Schedule for Students
- Purpose of the ACCESS Assessment: The ACCESS Assessment provides information on how students who receive English language services are progressing in the areas of reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The assessment is a growth-based assessment and shows how much a student has progressed from one year to the next year. Students eventually can test out of the ESOL program by displaying the appropriate growth from year to year.
To minimize the disruption to the regular schedule, we will adjust our daily schedule for the following 4 Wednesdays. Students will stay in their homeroom classes from 7:15 AM to 9:25 AM. and complete the exam. Once the test is complete, we will return to our regular schedule.
