Be Kind, Stay Safe,

This weeks PB4L focus is:

We will try to solve our own problems.

Students quite often seek out a teacher before trying to work on the problem themselves. Teachers are giving students suggestions about how they can calmly discuss any problems they are having in their games.

Funding Success!

Thanks to Kelly's hard work we have received funding from the Sanderson trust for a pair of full sized football posts. The popularity of football during Term 2 and 3 during lunchtime has been huge.

Hopefully if all goes according to plan these will be seen in Term 4. There are just one or two little issues to deal with first.

PTA update

The PTA held a meeting yesterday and a decision was made to donate $2000 towards outdoor play. They are also purchasing a new barbecue, donating funds towards camp and contributing money for freight of the new football goals.

In Term 4 they will be doing a Christmas raffle.

The PTA would like to thank our community for their efforts with our fundraising ventures this year so far. It is wonderful to see the children benefitting from funds raised.

Wonder Project - Power Challenge

With the assistance of our fantastic Wonder Project Ambassador, Simon McLoughlin, Papakura are completing a Power Challenge this term. Simon gives up his time to support the school which we really appreciate.

Students are challenged to design and build a wind turbine and light up their own mini town. Along the way they’ll discover the amazing phenomenon of electricity and renewable energy, and learn how teamwork can keep the lights on.

Robotics 2022

This year we are entering the First Lego League Super Powered Competition this year. Originally our Year 7/8 team were going to be heading to the Regional Competition but unfortunately this has clashed with their camp week in Wellington.

This opportunity has passed to a group of Year 6 students I have chosen to give it a go! This is our first time entering so we are really in a learning phase.

SUPERPOWERED - FIRST LEGO League Challenge Robot Game Missions Video

A big thanks once again must go to our PTA who supplied us with 3 of our Robots. This has provided yet another opportunity for our students.

One of our lovely parents has let me know that Napier Technical Cricket Club are looking for a few extra players for their junior teams. If any students are interested below is the link to the registration.
