Elements and Compunds!

Definitions!
1. Element- a pure substance that is made up of one type of atom and cannot be simplified any further into a simpler substance.
Examples of Elements- Everything on the Periodic Table.
2. Compound- a pure substance made up of two or more elements that were chemically combined, and can also be subdivided into a simpler substance.
Examples of Compounds- H2O= Water, NaCl= Salt
Elements!!
The Periodic Table!
All the simple substances that have been fooud so far!
Silver!
Silver is a pure substance that can be found on the Periodic Table ( Atomic Number is 47).
Platinum!
Also a pure substance that can be found on the Periodic Table. ( Atomic Number is 78).
Compounds!!
Salt:
Salt is Sodium and Chlorine put together. Those two elements put together create a new substance (salt) which makes it a compound.
Water:
Water is Hydrogen and Oxygen combined. Since it is a new substance it means it formed a new substance. The compound is H2O and that equals water.
Cheesecake:
This cheesecake uses many different simple substances that make a new substance like water, sugar, salt, and many more. All the simple substances put together form a newer substance when heated to a certain degree for a certain amount of time.
