Confucius was a philosopher and teacher in Lu Province in the Zhou Dynasty. Not much is known about him, as different sources contradict the others, but The Analects, Mencius/Mengzi, and Zuozhuan. The former was pieced together by disciples (much like the Christian Bible), the latter is a narrative of his life written in the 4th century BCE, and the second is a compilations of his teachings.
Confucius told his stories as fables, not true stories. He called himself a transmitter rather than a maker, though his teachings did appear very different from the common knowledge of his day.
