Rocks Shining Bright Last Week
The weather forecast looks great for this week as well, and I hope you will come out to support our Rocks in action as we near the end of our fall sport seasons. Looking forward to a great week ahead!
New Information This Week
CORE Time Update
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students and staff are taking advantage of the 35 minutes for reteaching and learning and for enrichment opportunities. Many students attended our college and career fairs, our Shamrock Save a Life Walk, sessions with college representatives or wellness opportunities such as mindfulness sessions or our "walk and talk" around the track in our MPIF. When students have visited teachers for relearning, we have seen grades dramatically increase. Please help encourage your students to utilize this time to ask questions, improve scores on assessments or to learn more about classroom topics of interest.
On Fridays, we continue to encourage connection through a wide array of club opportunities, in addition to teacher help sessions. This is the perfect time to connect with caring adults and to pursue passion areas. We have seen many of our students also pursue leadership and service opportunities during this time.
Ask your student how they are spending CORE. We have loved the engagement we are seeing!
Access College Application Night
Students should bring their computer and as many questions as they may have regarding the College/University application process.
WHS looks forward to supporting our students through this important time in their lives and we hope to see many of them take advantage of this opportunity!
Passport to the Globe
This event will feature a concert from our Steel Pan World Drumming group and food from different countries catered by FCCLA Foodies Rock! We will also have some of our clubs/students presenting cultural information, performing and displaying art from other cultures/countries.
Advance tickets are available at https://whspa.booktix.com/. Individual tickets are $6 - a family pass can be purchased for $25 (for up to six people).

Reminders
Parent Drop Off/Late Arrival Information
As a reminder, it is extremely important and helpful to call the attendance line as early as possible when picking your student up for early dismissal to allow us time to send a pass to your student. The attendance line is checked every 10-15 minutes throughout the day. It is sometimes difficult to reach a classroom on short notice. It is also very helpful to notify our attendance office of late arrivals. You may reach the attendance line directly at 317-867-6801.
Please also remember that if you are dropping your student off at the beginning of the day, there are TWO parent drop off doors. Drop-off and after school pick-up for the 2021-2022 school year is at door #9 in the athletic wing and door #32 in the new wing. (Please click on the door number to see maps for traffic patterns.)
