SOUPer Bowl House Challenge
During the week of February 5th-9th, Wildcats can bring in non-perishable foods for our annual “SOUPer Bowl” food drive! Donations will benefit our local Yuba-Sutter Food Bank, and also earn points for your house! If you want to maximize house points, you can bring in high-need items such as non-glass jams/jellies or items that can be easily heated/consumed by a person who is unhoused: soups with pop tabs, instant/cup of noodles, tuna/cracker kits, etc. Thank you in advance for your donations, and we look forward to seeing which house is this year’s SOUPer Bowl Champion!
Saturday School and Camp Marcum- March 2nd
Our next Saturday School session is coming up! Have your child make up an absence and turn it into a day of attendance! This 1/2 day (8:30-12:30) of enrichment led by a certificated teacher, not only helps the school recoup lost funding from absences, but also helps interdistrict students maintain their good standing for interdistrict reviews by helping increase their attendance percentage, and is fun!!!
No absences? No problem! Students without absences can participate in a day (7:30-4:30) of fun activities with Camp Marcum! Camp Marcum will also be available before and after Saturday school, to allow for greater flexibility for families to drop off and pick up.
Space is limited in both programs for our last session, so sign up below today! Available for TK-8th Grade only. Please sign up for this session today!

Our February 3rd session is full!
Online Surveys
Although we are still thoroughly invested in this school year, now is the time when we start thinking about the upcoming school year and begin making plans. In order for us to do this, we need to hear from you and will be sending out a few surveys in the coming weeks. These surveys will have to do with plans for your students to return next year, as well as surveys on what you think the District should work on in the future. Please complete the survey below now and be sure to check your email for an additional LCAP survey in the next few weeks.
Intent to Return/Enroll 24-25 (Please complete by 2/9/24):
Marcum Parents' Club Update
December was a very successful month for Parents' Club. Winter program profited $5,500.00 which was divided and distributed to all class savings funds. Each class received $465.76 to put towards things like Shady Creek and 8th Grade celebrations. On February 9th, Parents' Club will be hosting our final movie night of the year. We will be showing Luca; pasta and other concessions will be available. Our Annual Wildcat Run is scheduled for March 8th. Students can start accepting pledges February 16th and will continue for the three weeks leading up to the big event! Look for more information coming home about this soon! Our next meeting is February 5th at 6 pm. We would love to see some new faces as we are planning some fun and exciting new events.
Popcorn with the Principals
Come and enjoy some popcorn in the library with Mrs. Irby and Mrs. Brazil. They will be reviewing the MIUESD Dashboard and sharing the MidYear LCAP Update! We’d love to have your input and participation! This meeting will be held on February 12th at 4:30pm.
Teacher Collaboration Update
During early-release Mondays in February, teachers will have the opportunity to review data from the winter administration of our MAP Reading and Math assessments, monitor progress in current intervention groups and plan for any shifts in needs, collaborate on the use of centers as an instructional method, and receive training on preparing for and administering California’s Smarter Balanced Assessments that will come later this spring.
Earned Income Tax Credit Information Act Communication
Based on your annual earnings, you may be eligible to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit from the Federal Government (Federal EITC). The Federal EITC is a refundable federal income tax credit for low-income working individuals and families. The Federal EITC has no effect on certain welfare benefits. In most cases, Federal EITC payments will not be used to determine eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, food stamps, low-income housing, or most Temporary Assistance For Needy Families payments. Even if you do not owe federal taxes, you must file a federal tax return to receive the Federal EITC. Be sure to fill out the Federal EITC form in the Federal Income Tax Return Booklet. For information regarding your eligibility to receive the Federal EITC, including information on how to obtain the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Notice 797 or any other necessary forms and instructions, contact the IRS by calling 1-800-829-3676 or through the IRS website
You may also be eligible to receive the California Earned Income Tax Credit (California EITC) starting with the calendar year 2015 tax year. The California EITC is a refundable state income tax credit for low-income working individuals and families. The California EITC is treated in the same manner as the Federal EITC and generally will not be used to determine eligibility for welfare benefits under California law. To claim the California EITC, even if you do not owe California taxes, you must file a California income tax return and complete and attach the California EITC Form (FTB 3514). For information on the availability of the credit eligibility requirements and how to obtain the necessary California forms and get help filing, contact the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) at 1-800-852-5711 or through the California Franchise Tax Board website.
For additional information, refer to the IRS EITC web page or the California EITC web page.
