Bowling Match at Pin Palace

Congratulations to the Trojans on their win against Madison County! The Trojans will take on the Jets at Pin Palace today at 4:00 PM. Strike them out Trojan!

HOSA Competition Practice

HOSA competition practice will be Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 PM in room S210 Mrs. Strutheit's room. Last practice for this year will be December 10th.

Graduation Fees

Balfour will be on campus on again tomorrow, December 2nd during lunch to take Senior fee payments. Graduation fees are $100.00. All payments are due by March 1st.

ACT Science Prep Class

Mrs. Havner is providing free ACT prep classes for science on December 3rd, 7:45-8:20 AM. She has materials for 45 students. If you interested, please contact Mrs. Havner.

Hazel Green Community Playground Project

There will be a Thirty-One party for the Hazel Green Community Playground project on December 3rd, from 6 - 8 pm in the library. The proceeds will help to build a handicapped accessible playground. Visit the Hazel Green Community Playground Facebook page for more information. The event is being sponsored by NTHS and DECA.

French Club

The deadline to join French Club is this Friday, December 4th. The fee is $10.00. You can submit your payment to or Mrs. Braudaway. The French Club will meet again on Wednesday, December 9th after school. We will be having crepes. Please stop by Mrs. Braudaway's room Cll2 to sign up to bring some food items for the party and to sign up to donate a few things to our Christmas adopted Grandparents. Lists will be posted outside of room Cll2.

ACT E-Learning Day

December 4th is the last day to bring a copy of your ACT December 12th confirmation to Ms. Weir to claim your extra study time for E-learning during 4th and 5th block on Friday, December 11th!

JRF November News: New Scholars, New Site & More

The Jackie Robison Foundation provides comprehensive scholarships and support services to minority students enrolled at institutions of higher education. The JRF scholarship is awarded to outstanding high school graduates who plan to earn a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Additional fellowships are given to undergraduate and graduate JRF Scholars and alumni. For more information visit

Alabama School Public Relations Association Scholarship

The Alabama School Public Relations Association is a statewide coalition of professional school communicators. ALSPRA will award one $500 scholarship and present the winner with a certificate in recognition of his or her achievement. The deadline for the 2016 ALSPRA Student Scholarship is January 15th. Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form in to Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.

Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

Juniors Have Free Access to ACT Online Prep - All juniors will receive a personal user name and password to the ACT Online Prep website. This is a great resource to be used in preparing for the ACT Plus Writing assessment which will be given to all of our juniors during school. All students are strongly encouraged to utilize this service provided to us. For more information, visit

First Priority/FCS
meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Black Box Theatre. All students are welcome to attend.

Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.

Reward Cards:
Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.

(Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy.
