A note from Principal Abrahamson
Dear Carver Families!
Thank you to all the families and staff that have worked so hard to get student pick up running smoother. We are now down to our last car at 4:15 pm! It took us a while but we got there. Thank you for your patience and flexibility while we figured this brand new system out. Please remember that students need to be dressed for the weather (including rain, snow, and windy weather). We will be outside unless the temperature drops below zero or if the wind chill is -10 degrees or colder.
The Carver 2021-22 school year has started with a lot of excitement, speed bumps, and learning! It has been an amazing 2 weeks with students back in this beautiful new building. We are still getting used to our new home and teaching into new routines, spaces, and procedures. Students seemed so excited to be back and into learning in their new space. It has been fun welcoming new students and families. Students seem to be adjusting well and getting into the groove of school. I hope your student had a great few weeks.
All Carver is working hard to establish all the necessary routines to make this another smooth and fantastic year. Carver prides itself on building a strong community of learners, setting high expectations for all and continually connecting with students and their families. As students transition back into the school routine we work very hard the first few weeks creating a solid foundation of high expectations. Our school expectations start with the Carver Cares:
C- Cooperation
A- Assertiveness
R- Responsibility
E- Empathy
S- Self-control
During the opening weeks, students will be defining what these expectations look like and sound like in their classrooms and around Carver.
We look forward to a great school year!

Face Mask Requirement
Effective Thursday, August 19, 2021, the following requirements will be in place within all District 622 buildings. Please see the full message from Superintendent Osorio here.
Face masks
Required for preschool students and older, regardless of vaccination status
Required for staff when in the classroom, when around students/families, and in a large group when physical distancing cannot be met, regardless of vaccination status
Required for all visitors, regardless of vaccination status
Required on all transportation (federal mandate)
Required for athletes when not in active participation or competition
Quarantine
Masked students do not need to quarantine if considered a close contact as long as they do not have any symptoms.
Masked staff do not need to quarantine if considered a close contact as long as they are vaccinated and do not have any symptoms.
Requiring all students and staff to wear face masks while indoors gives us the greatest ability to allow students to continue receiving full-time in-person instruction. When a positive case is confirmed, a general notification letter will be sent to the families of any students in proximity to the positive case. Families will have the option to have their child stay home as a precaution AND be asked to notify the school if their child is experiencing any symptoms.
Join us at our next PTO Meeting
October 5th at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria.
