Lincoln Newsletter
September 27, 2018
Dear Lincoln Community,
Our Green Team is off and running with its efforts to reduce our school waste. We have added special bins for plastic that can't normally be recycled (e.g. K-cups) to our existing collection bins for compost, batteries, etc. The biggest way you can help is to support our waste-free lunches. Most Lincoln students bring their lunch, and if your child is one of them, please use the reusable containers like those in the picture below. Our goal is to save money by reducing our waste removal costs so that we can pursue other green efforts. We greatly appreciate your support.
The importance of calling in when students are absent: Parents, it is vitally important to call the office attendance line (847-318-4215, Option 1) as soon as you know your child will not be attending school. This information is critical, not just to students' safety, but the safety of others. For example, we had a morning fire drill last week and spent additional time trying to track down a student who was not called in absent by parents. Had it been a real fire, I would have been directing Firemen to search the building for a student who wasn't here, and I never want to unnecessarily put anyone's safety at risk. Thank you for your attention to this very important matter.
Important dates coming up:
- Picture Retakes Friday, October 12th.
- The last day for first trimester is Wednesday, November 14th. The Student/Parent Portal will close at 4:00 PM that afternoon, and will remain closed until 8:00 AM Friday November 30th while teachers finalize grades and comments.
