Collection of materials and iPads
After many months of materials pick-up, it's time to return materials to school. Here's a reminder about collection of materials:
June 7-11: In-person learners return textbooks and library books to their teachers. Many classrooms have already begun this process. Teachers will remind families of the materials students need to return. Our due date is June 11.
Tuesday, June 15: In-person learners return their iPads and chargers to their classrooms. iPads need to be fully charged. You may save things to Google Drive prior to returning the iPad. If keyboards were borrowed, these should also be returned at this time. Teachers will describe the tech-free learning activities for Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday, June 16: CORE/CHAMP and Blended students learning at home will come to campus from 1:00-4:00 to return iPads, keyboards and hotspots. Again, you will need to save anything from the iPad to Google Drive prior to coming and bring the device fully charged. Don't forget the charger.
Hotspots should be returned to the school office directly, if possible. Please return them with the charger and in the original box (if possible). If you cannot return the hotspot to the office, please have your child deliver it to their teacher with their iPad.

Sycamore's Equity and Inclusion Committee
Sycamore’s Equity & Inclusion Committee will hold its last meeting of the school year this Monday, June 7th from 6-7:30pm. We invite you to join us as we map out a schedule of events for the coming school year and reflect on how we can continue to work toward equity both at Sycamore and in the Claremont community. As per the comments we submitted to the District Advisory Committee on Racial Equity, we are eager to see E&I committees become active at all CUSD schools and, to that end, we invite anyone from the District who’s interested in forming their own E&I committee to attend our last meeting and bring any questions they have. Please feel free to pass this invite along to anyone who might be interested in attending.

Looking forward
Though we don't have absolute certainly, we believe we'll be returning to in-person learning this fall. Families are currently returning forms stating they'll attend Sycamore this fall. Soon new enrollees from the neighborhood will be added to our rolls. By mid to late summer, families of intra-district, inter-district and kindergarten students will be notified of their placement. Before we know it, Sycamore's 2021-2022 community will be together.
In order to welcome new students and families, it has been our practice to offer a Kindergarten Play-Based Observation Day and new student tour (led by current students) in late August. To this, we would like to offer new(er) families the option of having a "buddy family," a family who would welcome and acclimate them to the routines, activities and unique learning environment of Sycamore. If this idea is of interest to you, either as a new(er) family or as a supporting "buddy" family, please send me an email. We look forward to this and other ways to help our students and families feel included and comfortable at Sycamore.
Community Forum on Racial Equity
On June 8 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, CUSD will host a Community Forum on Racial Equity. During this meeting, participants will be encouraged to share ideas on the definition of equity, their views on the challenges to equity in CUSD, as well as possible solutions to equity concerns. Individuals must register to attend this virtual event at https://forms.gle/RWUkDD8Upq13vBft. The Zoom Link will be sent upon completion of your registration.
Girl Scout Service Project
Please consider participating in a service project sponsored by one of our Girl Scout Troops.
Sycamore Girl Scout Junior Troop 5604 now has a public Amazon wishlist that you can access and purchase donations that will be shipped directly to the team helping the migrant children at the Pomona Fairplex, at:
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8M17LGGA953W
Your donations will make aspects of the migrant children's adjustment much easier, and will help them feel more welcome. Please share this Amazon wishlist with family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers!
