Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year
Dear Families,
We hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. We also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. We are delighted that you are part of our amazing learning community. We welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and we look forward to working with you and your children.
All signs point to an incredible and productive school year. Our skilled and devoted staff is already planning and preparing for your child(ren). Our enthusiastic office team is registering new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility. Also, our much-appreciated PTA is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs. We are indeed a joyous and caring community with the common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students, and promoting high-level learning.
A special welcome is extended to our new families. We are glad you’ve joined our LES community and will hold an orientation session for you on Thursday, August 27th from 10:30-11:15 a.m. in the school cafeteria.
Our annual Open House will be held on Friday, August 27th from 11:15 a.m.–12:00 p.m. This is the time to meet your child’s new teacher, greet former teachers and staff, and drop off school supplies.
Please be sure to mark your calendars and save the dates as our annual Back-to-School nights are early this year!

Grades 1 & 2 at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, August 26 - Back-to-School Night

Communication is always key! At Lisbon, we do our best to consolidate communication in our weekly newsletter, the Lisbon Lines. The Lisbon Lines will be published weekly throughout the school year through email. Since you will receive email from your child's teachers and potentially other schools and teachers, if you have older children, we want to be sure we do not inundate your email inbox day in and day out. Be sure to look for the Lisbon Lines newsletter on Fridays in your email inbox starting in September. It will be packed full of a lot of important information in one location. If you ever miss an issue of the Lisbon Lines, we archive each issue on the main page of the LES Website. There will be times when we send email communication from the office between the Lisbon Lines issues, so please be sure to check email regularly.
I am also excited to share that our Smore.com newsletter (Lisbon Lines) can now be translated by Google into many languages. To translate the newsletter, go to the top right hand corner and click translate newsletter under the word accessibility. There is also a high contrast mode where the text can be viewed in black and white and larger lettering. I hope this will help provide even better communication for our diverse community.
Our administrative team is here to serve our students and families. We want to assist your family with any concerns or needs that may arise throughout the school year. Please don’t hesitate to call or email us with any concerns, ideas, suggestions, or celebrations.
We look forward to welcoming your children back to school on Monday, August 30th. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. to begin the 2021-2022 school year. Please read through this newsletter carefully for important information to start the year off safely.
Enjoy the weekend,
Mrs. Anoff, Principal
Ms. Wright, Assistant Principal

Family File Emergency Form is Open in HCPSS Connect
It is time to update your child's emergency contact information in HCPSS Connect! This is the most important step as we prepare for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. Your Family file needs to be updated every school year. This must be done for new and returning families.
HCPSS Connect is open to update your Family File. This information is very important! Please take the time to do this now. It is very important to have your Family File information complete prior to the first day of school.
You will be asked to update or provide the following information:
- Parent/guardian contact information. Please provide the most current contact information.
- Emergency contacts. Who do you want to pick up your child in case you cannot?
- Medical information
- Arrival and dismissal procedures. How will your child arrive to school and be dismissed on a daily basis? Additionally, provide what procedure your child should follow in case of an unscheduled early closing of schools.
- Media coverage. This includes students being photographed for the Lisbon Lines.
- Data confidentiality.
- School directory. What information do you want to be included in our LES School Directory? Families can access this directory/ information through HCPSS Connect.
You can access HCPSS Connect here http://www.hcpss.org/connect/
Changes of address may not be made through Family File. If you have recently moved, please contact our LES office at 410-313-5506 as soon as possible.
Parents who have forgotten their login credentials for Family File may click the “Forgot Password” link on the sign-in page. If you need additional assistance, please fill out this Connect Help Form.
Who will be my child's teacher?
Teacher notifications will be through Family File this year. You will be able to see your child's teacher on Wednesday, August 25th. In order to access your child's teacher, you will need to complete Family File. Please make sure you do this prior to Open House on August 27th.
Supply List for SY 2021-2022
We encourage you to drop off your school supplies during Open House on August 27. Please be sure to clearly label your child's supplies with his/her name.
Kindergarten, Here We Come
Reminders to Start the Year
First Day of School
Assuring all students get home safely is a top priority. You can help make sure that happens! Please have your child arrive at school in the same manner that they will go home. As students arrive, we will record their transportation and give them a tag identifying their bus number. If your child is going home another way than how they arrived, please send a note for the teacher and include relevant information such as the bus they are to take or the method in which they will be going home.School Bus Schedules Online
School bus routes for the coming school year will be available on the HCPSS website, www.hcpss.org, and then updated regularly. The school bus locator can be found on the website as well: https://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=HCP2IOASIJVW

Car Loop Arrival and Dismissal Guidelines
Welcome to another school year at Lisbon Elementary School. In an effort to make the drop off and pick up of students flow as smoothly and safely as possible, we have the following guidelines. We would appreciate your adherence as a consideration to others:
1. When entering the loop, please drive all the way forward. You do not need to wait until you are at the front of the line to allow your child out of the car – we can unload 2-3 cars at one time.
2. Please DO NOT PASS another vehicle while in the carpool line unless directed to do so by a staff member. It is extremely dangerous for vehicles to pull around other vehicles. We appreciate your patience.
3. Please DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED EITHER FOR ARRIVAL OR DISMISSAL. If you need to get out of your car, you should park your car in the overflow lot and walk your child over to the school. Please kiss your children and give them their lunch money before you get into your car at home. The drop off loop needs to run safely and efficiently, therefore, take care of good-byes and last minute issues ahead of time.
4. Students should only be dropped off & picked up curbside. Please do not allow your children to exit or enter the vehicle on the driver’s side. Students are not permitted to walk across the carloop without a staff member to meet you on the other side.
5. Please do not back up or do a “U turn” at the entrance to the loop.
6. Exit by driving straight out of the loop to either Church Alley or Rte. 144. DO NOT drive thru the bus lanes.
7. Parents with handicapped students should park in the designated handicapped parking spaces if the student needs assistance entering or exiting the car.
8. For the safety of our students, please do NOT drop them off prior to 8:30 a.m.
“What Your Child Will Learn” Guides
What Your Child Will Learn guides provide an overview of the instructional program for your child’s grade, as well as student goals and expectations. The guides include information to help parents monitor and support their child’s progress during the school year.
Individual guides are provided for each grade level. Each grade level guide provides information categorized by curriculum area, e.g., Language Arts, Science, etc.
The guides are available online only; print versions are no longer distributed. Specific guide webpages may be printed from the website.
Specific student programs may differ depending on instructional needs.
