November 2020 NSE Mustang Message
#BetterTogether
Message from the Principal
We are thankful for all of our students! They come to school ready to learn. They listen to their teachers and do their best each and every day. We are very proud of the progress they are working towards. Even though we were apart for many months and we lost some learning time, we are working hard to catch up.
We are thankful for our parents! Our wonderful parents make sure their child is at school and encourage him/her to learn as much as possible every day. They stay in communication with their child's teacher to ensure we are all working together to help students be successful. They make us feel appreciated and the feeling is certainly mutual!
We are thankful for an amazing staff! All of our teachers, assistants, and other staff members are dedicated to our students. They all go well out of their way to help our students no matter what their role is. The teachers spend many hours of their own time to prepare for the lessons taught each week. They made it though the challenges of remote learning to do all they could for each and every student. The staff culture at NSE is truly a blessing.
We are thankful for our school board and district administration! They all go the extra mile to make sure we are supported and have what we need to help our children be successful. They have been supportive though the many struggles we have had since March and continue to support us as we try to conquer any challenge that comes our way.
Last, but not least, we are thankful for our community. Our community may be small, but our hearts are big! We appreciate the support we have received as we work on improving, growing and getting through this pandemic. We would not be able to thrive without your support.
We have A LOT to be thankful for. The wonderful part about all of the things we are thankful for is how it directly impacts the success of our students. With that kind of support, we will no doubtably continue on the path of a great school year. It takes all of us to make an impact. Your encouragement, hard work and dedication is appreciated!
Sincerely,
Lundy Atkins

Red Ribbon Week Although we were not able to see out first responders this year for Red Ribbon Week, we were able to celebrate each day with a theme. Monday: STOP! Be happy. Be brave. Wear red. Tuesday: Put drugs to sleep. Wear your Pjs. Wednesday: We are too smart to do drugs! Wear your college or career shirt. Thursday: Too classy for drugs! Dress up for picture day. Friday: We are too Bootiful to do drugs! Wear your costume. | Too Boo-tiful to Do Drugs We may have not been able to have Trunk or Treat, but that did not stop us from celebrating! Staff and students dressed up in costumes and had a Boo-tiful day! The district provided the small prizes we normally give away so each student during Trunk or Treat so each student was able to take home a bag of fun trinkets. Alligator Dental also donated a tooth brush to every students. We created several stations around the school and the students went to each station with their bags and had fun Trick or Treating. | |

Kinder Word Lists Our kinder students are working hard to learn their Dolch sight words. They have eleven lists to complete by the end of the school year. Sight words are the tricky words that cannot be sounded out very easily. They must be memorized to help them become fluent readers. The students are working at home and at school to learn the words and phrases for each level. The students are setting goals and charting their progress. A BIG THANK YOU to our parents for working with their children at home! The extra help at home is making all the difference. | Leave are Falling. Autumn in Calling! Mrs. Johnson's class has been busy creating beautiful fall art! Her students created fall leaves using their hand prints. We are proud of their work! | Future Engineer First grade used their engineering skills to build structures using pretzels and marshmallows. As you can see by the big smile, the students enjoyed the hands-on science activity. |
