Do you want to document the influence that YOU have on student learning that is specific to your content and grade or course learning objectives?
SAOs are an option to measure student learning growth for your evaluation. Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, all teachers without a state VAM score must engage in the SAO process. Teachers with a state issued VAM score will have the option to use a SAO for the student learning growth portion of their evaluation in place of a VAM score.

“The Aspiring Leaders Program is designed to equip teacher leaders interested in pursuing the role of an Assistant Principal (AP) with essential knowledge and skills for success. Members of the 2017-2018 cohort will participate in 10 seminars throughout the school year, develop a leadership portfolio to identify experiences aligned with the Florida School Leader Standards, and soon after participate in AP Pool screening and selection. This program is opened annually for application, and there are currently 115 aspiring leaders in this year’s cohort.”
Intern Seminar is a day-long professional learning opportunity for those developing education professionals that have been placed in their final internships within a Polk County Public School site. The learning is a highly collaborative opportunity for the interns to be introduced to PCPS’s mission and way of work. Topics that the interns are instructed in are interviewing skills, getting hired in PCPS, student engagement strategies, behavior de-escalation, ethics and professionalism. There is also a Research Station/Focused Conversation session in which the interns have the choice to delve deeper into topics such as tips for student teachers, classroom management, social emotional intelligence, or keeping students accountable. Presenters from the Professional Learning, Human Resources, and PBIS departments partner to make the learning opportunity engaging and meaningful for the interns.
