Parent/Teacher Conferences @ West
Parent/teacher conferences will be virtual this year and are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 24. Parents/guardians can schedule conferences with teachers using the new ParentVUE parent portal.
ParentVUE will open up for conference scheduling at 12 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9. Instructions for how to schedule a conference are located here. Please note the conference module referenced in the instructions will not be viewable until it is turned on at 12 p.m. on Nov. 9.
If you do not yet have a ParentVUE account, you will need to create one in order to access the conference scheduling module. To set up your account, please contact the helpdesk@pvsd.org to request an activation code.
At the middle school level virtual parent/teacher conferences will be scheduled with your child's team of teachers. Each team's conferences will be scheduled through one teacher on each team, but include all team teachers (English, Math, Science, Social Studies). The list below will indicate what teacher on each team to schedule your child's parent/teacher conference with. If you would like to meet individually to talk with your child's Special Area/World Language/PE/Music/Gifted Education teacher you may schedule a separate time with them.

Cell Phones
We have recently noticed students using cell phones at times that are not permissible. Please see what are handbook says about the use of cell phones during the school day.
"Middle school students are expected to keep their cell phones off and away during the school day unless granted permission
from teachers to have available during class. Unauthorized use of cell phones shall result in the search and possible
confiscation of the phone."
We will remind students of procedures like these in class meetings before Thanksgiving Break.

IMMUNIZATION COMPLIANCE FOR ALL PV STUDENTS DUE BY NOVEMBER 8, 2020
Community Health and Dental in Pottstown can be utilized to receive free/reduced cost vaccines (if eligible). Their number is 610-326-9460.
Efforts to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 have led to many children not receiving routine preventative medical services. It is vital that all children receive recommended vaccinations on time and get caught up if they are behind as a result of the pandemic. Routine vaccination prevents illnesses that lead to unnecessary medical visits, additional outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases, hospitalizations, and further strain on schools, families, and health care systems.
At this time, all Perkiomen Valley students must be compliant with the state vaccine mandates or risk exclusion to school on November 8, 2020. If your child requires vaccines, you have received an email communication from the nurse
Also, Mrs. Lind is accepting 6th grade physicals, and 7th grade dental exams. These forms can be turned in to the office, or scanned and emailed to Mrs. Lind at clind@pvsd.org. It is highly recommended that while having their 6th grade physical, your child should receive their Tdap and Meningitis vaccinations to avoid having to return prior to the start of 7th grade for these shots. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Lind by calling 484-977-7210 extension 4.
Please stay healthy and well!
Middle School Winter Athletic Update
Currently, winter sports tryouts/practices are scheduled to begin for High School on Friday, Nov. 20th and Middle School Nov. 30th, however this date is certainly subject to change based on the conditions of the pandemic and orders issued by the Pioneer Athletic Conference, the PIAA, or the state.
Winter sports at the high school include boys and girls basketball, boys and girls swimming, wrestling and boys and girls winter track. At the middle school level, we offer boys and girls basketball and wrestling.
If your child participated in a sport this fall, registration is still needed for the winter season. You will need to log on to their profile in Planet High School, go to Athletic Forms, select a winter sport, and fill out Section 7: Re-Certification by Parent/Guardian(Winter). Once approved, forms will say "Complete", and the profile will read Athletic Forms: Approved.
