GIRLS ON TRACK is coming to Doylestown!
Girls on the Run is excited to offer its Girls on Track (GOT) program to area 6th-8th grade girls
for the first time this fall! GOT is an after school program that encourages preteen girls to
develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. There are over 200 councils
providing running programs throughout the US and Canada, and you are invited to join us for a
fun-filled fall season!
Our program runs for ten weeks, beginning the week of September 23. Registration is open
and available online via our website, www.gotrhunterdon.org. Our program will be limited
to15 girls, who will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis, so please register soon!
Registration will close when enrollment hits capacity or on September 27, whichever comes
first. Please refer to the FAQs page of our website for participant commitment information and
answers to many common questions regarding our program and registration.
Beginning the week of September 23, we will meet at the Doylestown United Methodist
Church on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 4:45-6:00 PM. Along with having a
ton of fun, we will train together to participate in the non-competitive fall version of our Girls
on the Run 5K, which will take place on November 23, 2013 in New Hope!
The cost of the program is $125, which covers 20 lessons, materials, volunteer training and
background checks, a GOTR t-shirt, other incentives, and registration for the Girls on the
Run 5K. Scholarships to help offset or cover the program fee are available to those who
may require financial assistance. Please contact Council Director, Becky Testa, at
gotrhunteron@comcast.net to request a scholarship application.
If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact your
Site Coordinator, Christina Baer at cbaer@awomansplace.org,
your Head Coach, Liesbeth Bisschops at LBisschops@awomansplace.org,
or your Council Director, Becky Testa, at gotrhunterdon@comcast.net.
Additional information on our program can be found at www.gotrhunterdon.org.
We look forward to a fun and exciting fall season and hope that you will join us!
CB Cares
Check out CB Cares!
CB Cares Educational Foundation is a community coalition of individuals, businesses, and agencies, whose goal is to promote positive values, attitudes, and behaviors among our community's youth. The framework for CB Cares’programs is the “40 Assets” -- a research-based approach to cultivating the most important qualities which create caring, competent, and resilient individuals. The more assets an individual possesses, the more likely they are "protected" from the risk factors that face them in their daily lives. To learn more about the 40 Assets, visit http://www.cb-cares.org/40assets.cfm.
CB Cares has a long-standing partnership with the Central Bucks School District. For over 17 years, CB Cares and CBSD has been involved in promoting the 40 Assets in our local schools through programs and trainings, with the goal of fostering positive behaviors and values in our community’s youth.
For more information about CB Cares, visit their website (www.cb-cares.org), and watch for news and updates in future issues of the Cold Spring Courier!
KIDSTUFF
BOX TOPS for EDUCATION
The Box Tops committee is in need of volunteers to count Box Tops. This is a really EASY way to help out, and also a great project for older students who need service hours. If you'd like to help out, please email co-chairs Dana Hunter eve_oakridge@yahoo.com or Christine Junker thejunkers1@comcast.net.
The first collection date for this year will be OCTOBER 4. Clip and save Box Tops from many common products to earn money for Cold Spring. The class that collects the most Box Tops over the course of the year will win a prize... homework passes, a pizza party and Rita's water ice are examples of past prizes. Go to www.boxtops4education.com for a list of products, coupons & more.
Thank you!
