Hooker Oak Mock Trial
Hooker Oak 5th graders in Ms. Geise's Mock Trial went to the County Courthouse! Students were paired with a courthouse mentor. Student from PVHS and Paradise High School developed and wrote the trial.
"5th grader Sienna Jones was found NOT guilty, as the jury couldn't find enough evidence, "beyond a reasonable doubt," to convict her for the crime of vandalizing the State Capitol, writing "Ban Homework." After several witnesses were presented from both sides, and after closing arguments, a jury of Sienna's peers reached their decision.
Huge thanks to my longtime friend Judge Kristen Lucena and to the whole crew responsible for allowing our class to participate. We now understand just how different trials were (during the Salem Witch Trials), compared to now. We get a fair chance."

Chapman Vehicle Day
Chapman Elementary had their Third Annual Vehicle Day. Vehicle Day is like Career Day except members of the community bring vehicles with them that represent their career. This is a great way to spread career awareness in elementary school, which is often overlooked when talking about careers.
They had some pretty amazing volunteers attend this year. The Chico Fire Department, an ambulance, The B-Line Bus, Chico Police Department, Chico Parks and Recreation Park Ranger, PG&E, vehicles from the City of Chico and last but not least they had the Enloe Helicopter land on their field! It was such an amazing day!
