ELM MIDDLE SCHOOL’S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
November 4, 2022
Principal's Message
Greetings Elm Families,
We hope everyone had a great week; it was an amazing one at Elm. It was so nice to see all of our families for conferences. Thank you for taking the time to come meet with our staff to continue to grow our parent/school partnership. Now that we have had conferences, take some time over the long weekend to talk to talk to your students about their classes and make a plan to finish the trimester strong!
As a reminder, we have no school on Monday and Tuesday of this coming week. We will see everyone back in action on Wednesday, November 9th.
Please take a moment and look at jostenspix.com and our school code is FE11022 for ordering of photos. Also purchase your Elm P.A.T. gear here! and Elm Middle School gear here or here for a limited run!
Please take a few minutes to read through this week’s Cougar Courier. As always, should you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. Have a fabulous long weekend! #TeamElmStrong
Most Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley Groeneveld

Good Afternoon Elm Parents and Guardians:
As we enter the final weeks of trimester 1, it is often a mad dash to get grades up before the end of the grading period. Please advise your student to do the following: 1) Attend Homework Club to tend to any missing work; 2) Email or meet with their teachers to discuss any makeup or redoes for summative assessments; 3) Review their organizational strategies - specifically the students use of their agenda, the organizational folders and binders utilized for their courses, and how they prioritize and complete their homework. Please take the time to discuss any input given by teachers during conferences to improve behavior and their experiences in the classroom. It is never to late to improve overall grades and performance.
It was great getting to speak to so many of you during conferences. Thank you for you care and for your time.
Go Cougars!

Dean's Den
Hello Elm Families,
We have had multiple instances of students contacting their families in the middle of the day to pick them up. Students will text their families (during class). Additionally, most of the time, students are not going to see the nurse when not feeling well. Family members will then come to the school to sign out their child, and we are not made aware that the student contacted the parent. This also causes confusion with attendance for the remainder of the day, as we do not know if the student is returning, or why they are no longer in school.
If a child is not feeling well, the correct step to take is to go see the nurse. From there, the nurse will be able to evaluate the student, and help make a decision whether or not they should return to class or go home. Ultimately, we want students in school if they are healthy enough to so that they don’t lose out on instructional times
Additionally, as the weather is getting colder, we recognize more students may start taking the bus. If your child has not yet taken the bus, but plans to in the future, they need to reach out for a bus pass. This way, we ensure there are enough seats for all of our students, and we have proper documentation for who rides what bus.
Have a great long weekend!
