Note from Mr. Camp

Dear Werner Community,

We have had a great start back this week! Having our students here in-person is so important for nurturing relationships and providing the best education. We appreciate your support with adhering to the safety practices and protocols we have in place to help ensure our students will be able to stay in-person. We are grateful for a community that cares well for each other and our students.

I hope you all all have a great weekend and time with your families!

Sincerely,

Hayden

HELP NEEDED: Pictures for the Yearbook

We are still planning to have a yearbook this year and need your help with pictures. Please add any pictures from spirit days, special activities, remote learning, etc. to our Werner Photo Album.

Werner Cares and Shares-January

Werner Cares and Shares is a special tradition where we come together to make meaningful contributions to our community and

give our children opportunities to experience the satisfaction of helping others. In the past we have hosted an evening full of hands-on projects and activities for families to do together. This year, instead, we will focus on one special group within our community each month and make handmade cards to express our gratitude and support.

The project is simple: We encourage you to use any materials you have at home to make a card. Notebook paper, construction paper, markers, tape, glue, scissors, etc. We will also have a stash of extra supplies in a box near Werner’s front door that you are welcome to use. When you are done, you can bring your card to Werner (bring them to your class table on distribution days or drop in the box by the front door) and we will collect them and deliver them for you to the group of the month.

For the month of JANUARY we will focus on saying THANK YOU to local Law Enforcement. We will deliver our cards to the Fort Collins Police Department. Feel free to make one card or a whole stack!

Please turn your cards in by Friday, January 29th.

Some ideas on what to write:

-Thank you for taking care of people.

-We are grateful for all you do to keep our community safe.

-Thank you for maintaining peace and cooperation in our town.

-We appreciate all your hard work.

-You are the Best!

-THANK YOU!

NEWS FROM PSD

Resources for those facing housing and food hardship

The COVID-19 pandemic has created financial hardships for many in our community, leading to housing instability and food insecurity. There are financial resources available to help families and landlords and protections in place to help people stay housed. The PSD Department of Language, Culture, & Equity has worked with community partners to put together resources to support families.

Please see the LCE Family Resources Information (English and Spanish) for information on support with housing, food, and utilities.

PSD Newsletter-GHH

One of many ways information is shared is through the Great Happens Here community newsletter, which features timely information about the latest happenings in the district. GHH is emailed to families and interested community members about every two weeks.

Here is the most recent newsletter from PSD with Great Happens Here. For archived newsletters and informtion about how to sign up, go to: https://www.psdschools.org/department/communications.

PSD Superintendent Search

PSD superintendent search online survey, forums: The Board of Education would like to hear input as it searches for the next Poudre School District superintendent. Parents/guardians, students, staff and other members of the PSD community are invited to complete a survey.

· Hazard Young Attea & Associates, a search firm hired by the Board of Education, will compile input gathered from the survey, forums and invite-only focus groups and create a leadership profile report that will be presented at the board’s public Feb. 9 meeting.

The school board will also solicit diverse ideas from numerous stakeholder groups, including parents/guardians and students, through a series of facilitated, invitation-only, online January forums. Event information is posted on the PSD Superintendent Search web page, which is the primary source of information for the hiring search. We encourage everyone to share their voices as part of this important process. Once on the PSD Superintendent Search web page users can translate the content. Click on the word “Translate” along the top, green navigation bar and select your desired language from the list displayed.
