WATCH D.O.G.S ARE BACK IN THE HOUSE
Dads, granddads, uncles, step-dads and adult brothers . . . the Watch D.O.G.S. program is ready to begin! Aren’t sure what Watch D.O.G.S. is all about??? Here’s your chance to attend “Puppy School” on September 12th from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. in the Anderson Elementary MPR. This is a Dad’s Only opportunity to understand the program, receive information, and order your Watch D.O.G.S. shirt. We will be accepting cash or check this evening (prices range from $14-$30).
For all of our returning D.O.G.S., you are welcome to join us for “Puppy School” if you are looking for more information on what it means to be a Watch Dog or order a t-shirt. *Returning Watch Dogs do not have to attend the meeting on September 12th.
Beginning on Tuesday, September 13th, at 9:00 a.m., the sign-up link will be on the Anderson website for you to sign up for your day of choice.
Due to the increasing popularity of this program, we are limiting sign up to 1 day per dad. Having more than one Watch Dog a day dilutes the uniqueness for the children and we want your child(ren) to feel special on the day you come.
Watch DOGS is an innovative program being used by schools across America to help positively impact students by committed involvement of fathers and father-figures. The goal is to have a father/father figure on campus every possible day of the school year to be an extra set of eyes and a positive male role model.
For safety reasons, we are asking every Watch Dog to wear an authorized Watch Dog shirt. We have a small supply available to borrow on your day if you are unable to purchase one. We are offering the option to volunteer for either a full day or ½ day, if it is not convenient for you to be here all day.
Things to do before Sign-Up Day
- Complete the background check found on the Allenisd.org/andersones homepage. Under Quick Links for Parents, select Volunteer Registration. This can take up to 2 weeks to process – so make sure you give yourself time. We absolutely can not allow you to be a WD unless your background check is complete.
- Order an Official WD Uniform t-shirt. Order forms are available on the Anderson website on my webpage. Additional order forms are available at the front desk. You can send order forms with payment with your child to their homeroom teacher or drop off at the front desk. Checks must include driver’s license and phone number.

Ways to get involved!
JOIN the Anderson PTA
We want YOU to join the Anderson PTA
Why: By joining the PTA, you become a voice for all Anderson students. The PTA works with school administration and staff, community leaders, and other parents on behalf of our kids. Being involved in your child’s school matters and makes a difference!
Who: ANYONE can join (Mom, Dad, Grandparents, Neighbors, School Staff)
Cost: Annual dues are only $10 per membership
How are my dues used? Events like Donuts for Dudes, Muffins for Misses, and Anderson Fall Festival are funded by the PTA. Plus Grade Level T-Shirts, Field Day Inflatables, and so much more!!!
But I don’t have time: While we’d love your help as a volunteer, there are no required volunteer hours.
One More Reason: Everyone who joins prior to Friday, August 26th will be entered into a raffle to win an All-Star Yard Sign!!
Notes from the Nurse
Hello Anderson Families!
As we progress into fall, I wanted to talk to you about a very important safety issue: choking!
Do you know what are the top 3 things children choke on? Grapes, Hot Dogs, and String Cheese.
So when you pack those lunches please cut the string cheese into small circles, and cut those hot dogs and grapes into fourths.
While we are all trained ho w to handle choking, we hope that we never have to actually use our skills!
I am really enjoying getting to know your wonderful children! It is definitely fun! Have a wonderful week!
