Gratitude Changes Everything
The definition of gratitude is "The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and return kindness." Starting this month, our students will have the opportunity to show gratitude as we "Light Up Our School With Kindness." With the help of our Secret Agents of Kindness, students will be encouraged to recognize peers as they witness acts of kindness. Dye cuts of lightbulbs are in the front hallway, and students will write about peers who show kindness. The goal is to hang these bulbs around the school as students show kindness and respect for each other. We are looking forward to spreading kindness and positivity throughout Jackson.

Winter Book Fair 12/9-12/13
Please see the following message from Mrs. Groves, our librarian:
Book Fair is coming!
It will be open Monday-Friday 12/9-12/13
Hours will be 11:30-12:45 and 2:00-3:00 daily.
We will be having a coin drive for "All for books" program. We will buy books from the book fair with money raised and donate them to the Jackson Angel Tree. Scholastic in turn donates 1 book for every dollar raised to one of their partner charities.
The classes that raises the most k-2 and 3-6 will have a special buddy holiday reading time together in the library on 12/19 in the library.
Check out the e-wallet!
No more sending money to school with your student, set up an ewallet account for them to use at the book fair. Go to our book fair homepage for more info and to sign up.

Giving Opportunities: Food Drive & Angel Tree (ends 12/13)
Our Angel Tree is up in the front lobby. A huge thank you to Dana Ewert and the PTA team that put all 600 tags on the tree this year. Wow! Angel Tree donations go directly to our Jackson families. What a great opportunity to collaboratively choose a tag with your child, and shop together to encourage generosity and gratitude. Every donation helps.

Language Arts Adoption Open House
On Monday, December 16, the District will host an open house where families can preview materials from our Language Arts Adoption. This will be an opportunity to look at bilingual materials from two major publishers as well as the technology and SPED supports they provide in the classroom. The open house will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Event Room at the Brookwood Library, 2850 NE Brookwood Pkwy. We encourage families to take advantage of the open house and provide input on how to best serve and support our students in literacy.
Reminders
Parking Lot: Please don't forget to pull ALL the way forward when dropping off or picking up. Also, the expectation is students exit the car on the curbside only. Especially in the morning, cars are going around on the left side and it is a safety issue when kids are jumping out in a hurry.
Cold Weather: It is frigid and wet out there at recess. Please remind your child to wear extra layers. Also, it's a good idea to have an extra set of clothes in their backpack. Otherwise, we will call home to replace wet clothing.
