Anthony Ianni "CENTERED"

For more information about Anthony Ianni or his book Centered please use the link above.

Our school convocation was a huge success! Anthony Ianni was incredibly engaging and had an amazing message to share! We would like to thank Leslie Brown (HSE Autism Specialist) for working with our school district to bring Anthony Ianni to FJH and many other HSE schools. We would also like to thank FJH PTO President, Tabbatha Collier for making March Disabilities Awareness Month a priority at FJH. Finally, we would like to thank our students and staff!! Our students displayed their CHARGER P.R.I.D.E by giving Anthony the respect he deserves. Convocations can be challenging, but our students and staff were flexible and made this event amazing. See stories and pictures below.

I wanted to share that my 7th grade students and I had some encouraging conversations after the convocation today. The students found Anthony to be an incredibly engaging speaker with a very good message that resonated with them.

They were also excited that everyone in the audience was so respectful. MANY students commented that they were glad that everyone was "acting right." I was hopeful that our first convo after two+ years would be positive and my expectations were exceeded thoroughly. I loved sitting with the kids and seeing/hearing their reactions.

Please tell the PTO that I am thankful for this opportunity today and that I truly know that the message was heard.

Math Tutoring Available

For 8th grade Math students who have Mr. Gear, Mrs. Larrabee, and Ms. Snipes

As we head into quarter 4 of the school year students will be participating in NWEA and ILEARN testing as well as completing normal school assignments. We have decided, as a math department, to better help prepare and support our students we will host weekly help/review sessions each and every Friday morning starting at 8:30. These are for any 8th grade math students wishing to participate. Students from any of the three math teachers may attend.

Students wishing to attend should be dropped off at 8:30 door 6 in the back parking lot where the busses drop students off in the mornings. I will meet them there and escort them to my room for the work time. We will cover all material from that week more in depth and answer any questions students might have.

Please let me know if you have any questions at mgear@hsk.k12.in.us. I am looking forward to finishing this year strong and happy to help those interested achieve success.
