Elkton Elementary School Memo
March 22, 2021
A Note from Mrs. Palmer
Dear EES Families,
Due to not being able to take field trips, classes may venture off into the community to places like the park or a walk on the new sidewalks behind the school this Spring. If you DO NOT want your child to participate, please complete this form. If you are fine with this, you do not need to do anything.

Dr. Scheikl presented a plan to bring back students in grades 2-5 for four days. This will happen on Monday, April 12th. Students in the Hybrid A/B schedule will come Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. We are excited to have students back in the building more days. This will lead to some modifications to the current arrival/dismissal schedule. We will let you know the updates as we make them.
When students attend for more days, it will be important to provide your child with a new mask for each school day. Cloth masks should not be worn a second day unless it has been washed. Let us know if you are in need of more child size masks. We do have student masks on hand if a student forgets their mask. The mask should be worn when getting on the bus each morning, on the bus, and during the school day.
We anticipate many more cars in the morning so we will need you to help with the following:
- arrive at your assigned drop off time (Pre-K- 2- 7:50-8:05 and 3-5 - 8:05-8:20. If you have multiple students in different grades, go by the time of your youngest child.
- parent not exit the car- staff on hand will assist your child if needed
- students should exit on the driver's side of the car by the sidewalk
- student has their mask on upon exiting the car.
This will help with getting more cars through the alley in a shorter amount of time. This was recommended by the Elkton Town Police.
For Dismissal: The town of Elkton has requested that cars not line up before 2:40 to help avoid traffic backing up to 340. If you have a child in grades 3-5 that is a car rider, these students will not be released to you (in the school alley) until 3:05 starting April 12, 2021.
Current HLA students will stay in HLA through the end of the school year.
Please take time to update our Tuesday take home meal form by March 31st. Starting April 12th, grades Pre-K-5 will be in school four days. The only day take home meals will be provided is Tuesday.
Family Life Standards will be taught this school year. Click on the link below to opt in/opt out your child. Make a copy of the form before submitting your response. The FLE Standards will be available to view through a link sent out by your child's teacher or you are welcome to come to the school March 17th 12:00-7:00 to look at the curriulum for your child's grade level.
I wish you well...

Inspire Award- Nominate a teacher
child by nominating him/her for the Inspire Award. This award
aims to recognize teachers who go above and beyond in the
classroom. Parents, students, pre-service teachers, or classroom
volunteers may submit nominations.
The Inspire Award allows the School Board and community to
regularly and publicly celebrate the impact that RCPS teachers make
each day, whether on a particular child or class, or by encouraging a
future teacher.
A teacher may be recognized once during a school year and
submissions must be received ten days prior to a board meeting.
The person making the nomination will be invited to share his/her
nomination essay of up to 200 words with the school board, and will
make the presentation of a certificate to the honored teacher.
The nomination form can be found on the RCPS website under “Parents”.
