January 2022 Points of Pride from Superintendent Bradley
"The time is always right to do what is right." Celebrating the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
In music class at Roy B. Kelley Elementary School students learned the song "Sing About Martin" by Jackie Silbert. They read the book "Martin's Big Words" by Doreen Rappaport, and discussed the key words and ideas. Then, students analyzed the lyrics to "Sing About Martin" and found similar words and ideas.
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. inspired his generation and the generations that followed him to never give up on this most worthy dream. At Lockport High School West, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was highlighted over the announcements and discussed during Social Studies and English Language Arts lessons.

Dear LCSD Colleagues and Families,
As we find ourselves continuing to manage the pandemic during a third school year, the beginning of a new calendar year is a time to refocus and recommit to the values and beliefs that guide our work in the Lockport City School District. In the early part of 2022, let us reflect on the past and resolve to have the mindset to plan for the future in Lockport.
Thank you to students, staff, and parents for their incredible efforts and remarkable endurance during very stressful times. As we continue to work together to keep all people safe and well, we constantly find ourselves rebounding and moving forward, resetting our initiatives and priorities, and reigniting teaching and learning in the Lockport City School District. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2022. Stay safe and be well.
