Hearts: Social Emotional Learning

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

to the Preview show on Thursday at 1:20 for all K-5 classes. For students who won't make it to the show on Friday or Saturday this is an opportunity for them to see their friends and neighbors perform!

Thanks to Ms. Morgan, Ms. Jacobsen, Ms. Camella, and the many, many parents who have worked on this show. From what I am seeing (and hearing), this show looks amazing!!!

Heroes this Month

The Hero Physical Activity Classes for the month of March, will be focused on teaching 4-square, which will end with a 4-square tournament at the end of the month.

Minds

Super Smart Students

Be sure to read the Glenview Grapevine this week to hear about your talented students who will be heading to the finals for the Oratorical Fest and others who competed at the Odyssey of the Mind event last week.

Instructional Rounds

I know that the Instructional Rounds can be a little anxiety producing, but the team felt that they saw a lot of our work in action from their first visit. Students were talking to partners, moving around the room, using sentence stems and frames. We also saw a lot of evidence of the new writing units as well as the new math program. Common Core has begun! The overall school climate was positive and respectful. One principal asked Mrs. Wong and Ms. Smith, "How did you get it to be like this?".

I just wish you could have all been in the room to hear all the validations and all the great ideas for next steps. Special thanks to Ms. Smith and Mrs. Wong for being willing to step out of their classrooms for the day and be the fly on the wall with the team. We are planning on how we will share the feedback with the rest of the staff.

And thanks to all of you for the ways in which you helped Glenview shine that day, but truthfully, every day !
