Final Reminder: Winter Closing 2018
Halls close on Friday, December 14 at 6:00pm
Important Break Closing Information:
- 24 hour quiet hours begin on Monday, December 10 at 8:00am. Any violations of quiet hours will be documented by Residence Life and Campus Safety. Repeat violations may result in removal from the residence halls through the end of finals.
- No overnight guests will be allowed beginning Monday, December 3 at 8:00am. Violations may result in removal from the residence halls through the end of finals.
- You must check out within 24 hours of your last final exam. If you do not check out in this time frame, you will be charged a $250 late check out fee that is not eligible for appeal.
- You will not have access to your room after you check out. Plan accordingly and take everything home; staff will not let you back in once you turn in your keys.
- All students with finals on Friday must be checked out by 6:00pm on December 14.
- All residence hall keys must be turned in when you check out. Residence Life staff will be in the Moose Lounge in Hunter Hall from 9am-8pm on Monday-Friday of finals week to collect keys. Failure to return keys will result in a $250 improper check out fee and a $100-$200 charge per lock (depending on residence hall). These fees are not eligible for appeal.
- Campus Safety will not be collecting keys. Keys must be turned in to a Residence Life staff member.
- Do not turn in your mailbox key with your residence hall keys.
- Health and Safety inspections will be conducted on Friday, December 14.
- The dining hall closes at 2:00pm on December 14.
- The College is not responsible for your belongings while the halls are closed. Campus Safety staff will be on duty and the halls will be locked, but you are encouraged to take home all valuables.
- Confiscated items from the Fall 2018 semester that are not picked up by 6pm on December 14 will be disposed of.
- Halls will reopen on January 21 at 8:00am. No early arrivals will be authorized other than in-season athletes and students with pre-approved academic obligations. Coaches/ academic program advisors will be in touch with eligible students directly.
Checklist for Check Out
- Close and lock all windows, including in the common room, and leave the blinds up.
- Unplug and de-ice your fridge- make sure you empty it and throw out any perishable items. Residence Life will not empty your fridge for you. Any refrigerators left plugged in will be unplugged by staff. If you leave stuff in it, it will smell bad when you return.
- Unplug all electronics- alarm clocks, printers, televisions, etc.
- Clean your room and common room- throw away all trash to avoid being billed for it.
- Unplug and remove all holiday decorations.
- Make sure nothing is obstructing your heat source.
- Close and lock your door.
If you are not returning after winter break:
You must schedule a full checkout with RD Liz Doughty. Full check outs will only be offered from 9:30am-4:30pm on Monday- Friday, so please plan accordingly. Residence Life requires 24 hours notice for a full check out.
