Principal's Message to Hornet Families for the week of May 2nd, 2021

Happy Sunday fantastic family members,

This past week we had a lot of great things happen on campus. This included a runner up finish for our Science Olympiad Scholars, a special lunch performance by our Rockestra, a great track season ending track meet, and great breakfast treat for our teachers by the Communities in Schools Counselors. We also saw enrollment rise daily reaching a high daily total of 271. We are inching closer to 300 and its feeling like normal school again. We thank you for entrusting us with your child's safety and education, we will continue to follow the Science with our daily safety protocols. This week we look forward to more scholars in the building and a great week of teaching, testing, and learning as we start our state testing this week. It's important to note that students will not be released to parents on testing days until 12:30p. We will move our scheduled PTA meetings from this week to next week, more information in the announcements. Thank you again for choosing Kealing Middle School and Austin ISD as your child's primary educator.

Transition With Kindness

Transition with Kindness is a service project where students write letters to the people who are moving into the long-term housing and hotels in Austin. The letters should be welcome messages written with kindness in mind. These messages should include how you are proud and excited for them to get their room and express how much the community cares about them. By writing these letters, you will help me accomplish my goal of getting 150 letters to the people who will be in these long-term housing units. The letters can be written digitally on a Google Document and sent to the form linked below. The deadline to submit letters is May 14th! If you have any questions feel free to email Peyton Phan at peyton.phan0c@stu.austinisd.org.
